Civ V : news ?

Nothing as of yet. There's news in the future that is supposed to be reported in the next few months, but no details on exactly what. It could be DLC, an expansion, the dll gamecode, or something else entirely.

Well, the dll is going to be released in the next couple of months. That was specifically announced. The question is if the thing that is going to be announced in the next couple of months is the same thing that was already announced but not due out for a little while.

Considering Firaxis previous failings and obsession with making as much money for as little work as possible (dlc) your best bet is hoping mods take this game out of beta.

Have you made leaderheads, units, and recorded sound files translated and spoken by a native speaker before?

Actually I have made unit's for Morrowind before and have a basic understanding of 3Dmax, I've recorded numerous sound files as I sing in a band and have even done so in languages I don't understand (Italian, Japanese and German) for dramatic effect and such.
Also, the sound files for CiV are NOT recorded by a native speaker, as noted before, it's pronounciation is pretty terrible for anything but the most common languages (English, French, Japanese, Chinese, etc).
And pretty leaderheads =/= a good game, just look at Rage or the Star Wars prequels (or any of the thousand of bad rehashes that the movie and game industry has been releasing the last couple of years in absence of any real creativity).
I understand you, a part of you really wants to white knight this game but just know that defending a game like this will always be a losing battle.

Firaxis is not squeezing every buck out of us. The DLC is mildly priced and give you a useful addition to your game.
If you want to see a game where overpriced and useless (always subjective, but still) DLC is offered, take a look at Space Marine.
The big announcement will be that Firaxis support for Civ5 has stopped and there will be no further patches or new content.
For a game that's still selling a lot? I don't think so. My guess is they are working on a collection of DLC or an expansion (which is just larger DLC really).
