Civ V worth the buy

I have another question regarding modding.
I am an absolute beginner when it comes to modding, however I've started reading Kael's Modder's Guide and Dale's Mod Blog.
I've started on Dale's Religion Mod but apparently he just all of a sudden stopped modding and I can't continue with that tutorial.
Kael's Guide is great, but it's too much for a beginner to understand. I work best with tutorial examples, instead of elaborate description.
Does anyone who learned how to mod on Civ V have some advice for me on how to tackle modding?

I got my copy of the Digital Deluxe from Steam when it was on sale at 60% off, paid only 29.99USD. Same price I picked up Civ4 Complete. At the full price of 79.99USD on Steam, initially I would have thought it was worth that but after playing Civ4... Civilization V may very well be graphically superior, along with having a hex grid but that is about all it has on it's predecessors. Civilization V isn't yet nearly as rich as what Civilization IV is with the capabilities and content it offers in comparison. Wait for a sale.

In Civ 4 I hated corporations, but somewhat liked espionage and didn't care for religion much, but felt there was alot to do in Civ 4. Civ 5 does somethings better but leaves alot out compared to other civ games. The policy concept and great people buildings offer something nice and the combat and hex tile concepts are nice too. Civ 5 isn't in no way perfect, but then no civ ever has. I recommend you try it. I haven't regretted my purchase of it despite some of the bad publicity from gamers. The patches for it are regular like Firaxis promised for the most part and the game is getting better slowly but surely.
