I have been at this since Civ II. And I like how each installment has it's own special charm. In Civ II there was the lovable advisors, the wonder movies that showed real footage of the actual wonder, Some of the techs like highways, And the music was cool. Civ III and expansions in my view is pound for pound the most realistic of the series. In terms of sound, realistic battle outcomes, the gallop of horse units, and watching the ships sailing at sea. Amphibious warfare was at it's best. The smooth jazz during the modern age was cool. I loved how the leaders wore the clothes of every particular era. Still the best Space Victory scene of the series. And who doesn't miss telling other Civs to "Get out of my territory". Civ IV and Civ V also have their moments.
What I like about Civ VI is it continues this pattern of having it's own distinct characteristics. The visuals make it look fun to play for anyone. The comical appearence of the leaders and the Robot Chicken like animations of some of the units allows for a sense of humor. Christopher Tin's intro score sounds pretty epic(I wonder if anybody has a link for the full piece/concert). If there is any negative, it would be the absence of Babylon, Persia, and Assyria. This is the area considered the cradle of Civilization itself. Strange that the new game only has 2 Civs from the region. But all in all this new installment looks very impressive. I have no doubt that Civilization VI and expansions will be highly successful. It will be a thrill to speak softly and carry one hell of a big stick. One More Turn
