I have vanilla, R+F, GS, and NFP for PC. And vanilla, R+F, and GS for iOS (I have an iPad, but not an iPhone)

So, there's no way they're getting my money just because I might want to play on my phone every now and then. At least I think so. I'm not sure....

Its not compatible with my Galaxy, but I got it for Switch, with a HoF bug but its working fine. :)

This is getting out of hand paying for base game and add-ons for PC, Switch and now Android.

Why do you need to play on all of them? It's just a nice option to have.

Civ6 is trying to give Skyrim a run for its money, but Civ6 at least deserves it. :p

Well, the way I play at least is that you can play a game on multiple devices (thank you cross play). So I have absolutely everything on PC, because it's my main and favorite way to play. But I also have vanilla+R&F+GS on my iPad to pick up games when I want to play in bed, or feel like taking it on my lunch break. Yes, I paid twice for everything, but I am a Civfanatic. But how much of a fanatic am I if I'm questioning paying for a third time?

Believe me, it's no fun when you have everything on your PC but nothing on your other devices. For the longest time, iOS was just vanilla, but we had R&F and GS on PC, so I was always playing a gimped version on my iPad. What was lame too was that they were separate games, and I always felt like I was missing out on my iPad because I lacked the expansions. It screws with your achievements too because there's two separate counters! It satisfies your civ fix, but not quite.

So, you kinda have to go all in on each platform for the cross play. But, it's really fun. Play on my laptop on my nights off, when I go to work, get several turns on my lunch break, etc. It's just nice to always play a little Civ whenever you need it.

It won't download/run on my Galaxy S7 Edge, but I'm curious about how they packaged and priced the DLC.
I've seen articles that say "various Civilization and Scenario Packs" available for $5-$9, but no details on which ones are available, and whether there are bundles available or if they're all just sold individually.
Would someone that has downloaded it please fill in the details?

I'll probably have nightmares about late game turn times after hearing this. What kind of clock speeds does a typical tablet even have? I have a cheap Samsung one and it's 1.6GHz. My phone has slightly over 2GHz and it's marketed as a gaming phone. Of course ARM and x86 aren't directly comparable, but ARM is generally even worse (less instructions). I've done enough testing to know how dependent turn times are on CPU Hz. Still impressive, if they manage to get it running even sort of decently.

I have to say, I really don't understand this mentality, why is this a bad thing? You don't have to buy it, nor are you pressured into doing so. I never would have bought Civ for the PC because it's really inconvenient, so I got it for the Switch (I did get it for the PC, but only because it was free). It being on the Switch (or Android) doesn't put anyone else out, and if it isn't worth the extra money (like it isn't for me), then don't buy it. I could buy it, but it really isn't worth it for me. There are those who will benefit from it, so it will do them good.

Now, do I wish that they'd spent that time making sure the game passed basic quality controls on already existing platforms instead? Heck, yes. I'm tired of my game becoming unplayable every month or two, and I haven't seen a properly rendered road for months. It's frustrating.

It's kinda nuts I can play a full game of Civ VI on my phone. On the other hand, I usually play civ at the quiet hours of the evening with a hot beverage relaxing in a comfy chair in my closed off home office - not really looking to change the experience to sitting on the bus or train and hurriedly knocking out turns on my phone.

I think I would vastly prefer a game developed for mobile from the ground up, but as far as I understand civ rev II is no longer properly supported on modern android devices...

It´s not bad that they are available. It´s that you pay the full price for every iteration. I consider I´ve already bought "Civ 6" and the different technical implementations should only be a marginal extra cost.

Firaxis are of course free to choose their pricing model (so somebody doesn´t have to make a whole post about that) but I don´t consider it value for money in its current state.
