Civ VI won't start!

I can never run Civ 6
ughh.PNG

My civ couldn't start too, played around a bit nothing from the internet worked, all the download this and download that things turned out to be scams and viruses. My friend helped me a bit and we found out that doing this helps (I made a video on what I did in order to fix my game, and it worked, seems like steam didn't install directx properly)
Try it out it can't hurt and maybe it helps.

I fear tho that this post will be deleted as advertising :/ cuz it kinda is but I just want to help you guys it's not like Yo check out my sick playthru of CIV 6!
Hope you understand what I mean.

NOTE: This helped me fix the bug when you run the game and your steam icon goes green but the game crashes shortly after.I don't know if it fixes the graphic device/card issues!

I have found the fix for Windows 7 64 users and it isn't pretty. Basically, I had pirated Windows 7 long ago and neglected updates because they wouldn't work.

If you never update windows 7 for whatever reason, you won't be able to run Civ VI because many of the drivers won't work. If you're like me who pirated windows 10, Windows is offering a sort of olive branch to pirates by offering their software for free. You'll have to download the legal version of Windows 10 in order to get Civ VI working if all else fails. Especially if you pirated the OS

honestly theres plenty of solutions in this thread, one of thems bound to work. I posted one the other day here that forces the game to run no matter the graphics card or situation so that may help you. Should be back a page.

No, that doesn't help either.

I am also have a problem with loading Civ 6. When I tried to launch the game from the Civ 6 directory (Steam / SteamApps / Common / Sid Meier's Civilization VI / Base / Binaries/ Win64Steam) it gives me the error message "The procedure entry point K32GetModueInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

I am wondering if it's my OS, I am running Vista and I don't know if that's what causing it not to work. Does anyone know if anyone is playing it fine with Vista installed?

I'm having exactly this problem and I am also running Vista.

I too am running Vista and am getting the same error. Unfortunately I don't think it will ever work for Vista. First and foremost, Windows Vista is not officially supported, only Windows 7 and newer.

I did some searching for this K32GetModuleInformation and found this:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms683201(v=vs.85).aspx

This page says that this function is located in a different DLL for Vista than for Windows 7 and newer systems. To support Vista would require the developers to recompile the program with different flags, which probably won't ever do since they've already stated that they're not supporting Vista, and it would risk breaking things for everyone else.

Bottom line, I'll need to get a Windows 7 system running if I want to play this game.

This looks fairly ironclad to me. No way but to get another OS, I guess. Thanks for your searching.

Hmm i wasnt kidding with 10 hours to update Windows Its 16 hours now and its finally installing updates. Crazy. I am going to leave the fondling with Microsoft VC for tomorrow i guess... its 2 am now...

All I ever get is the "No compatible graphics card" error, I don't have a program to manually assign it so Civ recognises it. On my laptop I get the same error (however I don't even know if that has a graphics card). I thought it would still run regardless like civ 5.

It means you don't have the proper system requirements to run Civ VI. Civ VI is way more graphically demanding than Civ V and I recommend you either buy a graphics card, or a newer laptop

I am about to finally install legal Window 10 in a day or two. (I am using window 7 pirate version 2015, and finally found a retail who sell legit window 10 at normal price)
I will report further if coming to the light side fix this problem.

Still not working on Windows 7 x86... I don't know these programmingthingis you are talking about... I just want it to start when I press "PLAY" on Steam. It´s working on my windows 8.1 lap-top, but not on my windows 7 computer.... I have done ALL the updates on windows, I have uninstalled and re-installed with the firewall disabled, but still no success... And according to the announced system requirements, the minimum for Civ VI is Win 7 x86..., so I just don't get it...

I've tried to go through this thread and try everything ... but so far to no avail. All mine does is show 'running' in steam for a second ... then nothing. no error messages.

i've re-installed directx from the local folder. when i try to re-install the MVC++ files from there, it says failed and i get the following error ... 0x80240017 with a log file attached.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Frustrated but looks like i'm not alone. Thanks!

Well... that didnt work.
I spend yesterday trying to update Windows... But that wouldnt work. Many hours to 'find' updates (how difficult can it be?) and then it was stuck 14 hours on 'update 5 out of 19' 21%. It was still there just now and i rebooted. No updates installed. Its like Microsoft does it to annoy people. The thing is i dont even know which update failed so bad! So i could skip it or something...

well... so much for that. Today i tried
KB3102810
to solve the long updates... i tried to get that from microsoft site but its been 'searching for updates' for 11 hours or so... its crazy!

Just thought I would update my situation. The MVC++ files were indeed the culprit. In order to get those installed, i had to let windows 7 update approx 40 updates (took awhile). Once done, the MVC++ installs were successful instead of failed, and game was able to be launched. Hope it helps someone out there. Happy civing!

Specify. What is 'a while'. >24 hours? Thats what it takes for me with 19 updates and not even close to finished. And i am not sure which update is the culprit.

I left it overnight last night ... So up to 10 hours for me. Sorry I don't know which update allowed the MCV++ files to successfully install. Perhaps someone more tech savvy here might know?

I think Im just never gonna play it and grow up. I really get frustrated spending my one day off trying to no avail to make this work. I have tried every suggestion on the thread. The only thing promising is when it freezes during install of MVC++ with Win7_MSU_blah blah.

edit: I realize I am not contributing to solutions, I just feel the need to think I've been heard!! Thanks.
