I think it's pretty interesting to se that with most games you think it's funny the first ten times you play it and then you lose interest. But whit civilization I have experienced the opposite thing. I just get more and more interested in getting better and better at it.

Have any of you had the same thing happen to you?

The obvious answer: OF COURSE!

Since I purchased it, it's turned into an obsession. There has been times when I've punched the moniter and decided to quit because the Zulus conquered Leningrad, but as soon as I started to play it again, it always seems more interesting than the previous game.

Civ will live forever.

I would agree with that. The way civ-2 works, it's very hard to come up with 'perfect' plans, because there are so many variables. So each time I play, it's a totally new game.

Mr. Len, are you suggesting that you DO NOT LIKE CIV?

Well one can you say - how many non Civ-like games do you play, that are as old as Civ2??
I really think that Civ has survived for so long because it simply is brilliant, every game is different in a very special way. And well this game is just the greatest.

What I like about Civ is that you can never claim to have finished it. I hate these Doom-style games where after a while you know you have to open this door, shoot this monster, look in this secret compartment to find this key etc etc Or things like Command and Conquer where you have to do set missions and there is no carry over from one to the next, but you have to do them all in order. Civ is always different every time you play - even if you reload the same starting point. Also, you aren't programmed into one way of winning - you can develop your own style. To me, it's similar to role-playing in lots of ways.

Me? No, I'm not addicted...
Yeah, I can stop whenever I want...
Those red eyes? I've just got a cold, that's all...
No, I always shake like this when I've had no sleep...
Yeah, yeah, I'll just finish this turn, honest...

My worst nightmare : my wife comes in the room and presses reset...in the middle of a game. Oh no ! I was making a high score.

Addiction? Whadda ya mean addiction? I always thought *EVERYBODY* spent several hours each day in front of their computers playing the same game over and over again... And you're telling me that ain't the case? Bah!
