Civ2 cities resurrected

Nice!

Can't wait :)

Hi Virote Considon,

unfortunately you must wait. :) Today and tomorrow I must set the US Forces, Canadian Forces, the Armies of the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland on the SOE map at the start of WW 2.... in regimental size with the correct names and if possible the correct locations.

Then there are 2 things I cannot wait for :p

Hey! X-mas Smilies!

 Merry X-mas to you Virote Considon and to all civers who read this post - and to the civers who don´t read it, too.

Now it´s time to show something more about the possibilities of these "hybrid" resource cities:

The walled "resource city" isn´t a resource icon with a "walled" city on it. The resource icon has a city with no walls. With this methode it´s possible, to show for "size 1"-resource-cities on the map if they have a city wall or none. BTW.: A common mistake, that a lot of Civ 3 city-makers did, will not take place here. Even "size 2" or "size 3" resource cities in the first two eras are shown with the citywalls as the "empty wall" is copied to these files too.

With this methode the resource city can get different cultural city walls belonging to what cultural group owns that city.

The US-cities have the same city walls as the North-European cities as they belong to the European culture group too. In the first eras they have different resource city icons, but in later eras (industrial and modern) they have the same city style, with old basic resource icon buildings be integrated by proper use of transparency.

Now please think on the possibilities for scenarios with this methode. Who hinders you, that in a modern scenario specific resources pop up on the city, so that per example on the same European citystil the Eiffeltower resource pops up in Paris and Big Ben or the Brandenburg Gate in London or Berlin ?

Thank you jatibi. I give these forests a try. :)

they are beautifull jabiti maybe u should do the pine forests too so they all go together

jatibi, your shrinked forests are looking great with the resource cities. Thank you, that you have posted them.:) Here is a screene about them, connected with the resource cities (here you can have a look too, how the European city walls work with the Russian resource cities):

@ fuad, yes if the shrinked forests should be used in that mod, the other trees must be shrinked too. Unfortunately with my limited time, this is not the next I can do. The next I do is to finish the industrial and modern techtree and than all resources on the worldmap must be redistibuted again to counter the resource overflow bug. And I have hundreds of resources in this mod (alone 512 resources for citynames). :)

BTW.: I have updated the techtrees for the first two eras. The icons of my "enhanced techtree"-methode are now included too.

of course Civinator i fully understand am waitin for ur mod when it's fully finished it really looks very promissing and also adding too to the game itself

jatibi, thank you for the irrigation garphics, so you are right, they are somewhat too small.

I have updated the techtrees posting with the era 3 (industrial) techtree of that mod.

And here is some more eyecandy. Different resource cities that are captured by civs from other regions to test how walls from "strange" civs harmonize with the basic resource cities. In the testrun there is also varwnos´new serb city, that harmonizes well with the resource cities.

Balcan_Cities.JPG

Thessaloniki is captured by the Chinese and has at time a Chinese wall around that city. Sofia is captured by the Germans and therefore at time with a northern European wall around that city. Istanbul has a mediterranean wall around it. Tirana, Odessa and Troj are occupied by the Romans and have a Roman wall around them. Bucharest is at time owned by the Carthages and has the mediterranean wall around it.

Please note, that the graphics of the walls chance when the city is captured by an other culture group and when there is no wall in the city there is no wall to see on the map too (here is at time a little problem with varwnos´ new serb city as it shows a wall even in the "no-wall-graphic").

I consider an open playtest of this mod, may be with a smaller download file than the normal file to cut download times as short as possible.

O.k., I reveal another secret of these resource cities. The screenshots at time show the normal civnames of the cities and the cities are owned by normal civs. But these cities all get names by additional resources. You must fight for every city against the true inhabitants of that city. These minor civs, most civers call them barbarians, can defend their cities well. Most of the cities contain barbarian camps that are set to transparency. If you want to have Troj, you must fight against the Trojans.
