Civ2 ToT patch 1.1

I have Civ2 ToT but not the 1.1 patch.
I can play MP OK with people who also dont have the patch but when a ToT player with the patch tries to join the game, they get problems.

Can somebody tell me what the 1.1 patch does and what I would get if I installed it.
