Civ3 Domains

This is outrageous: Activision registered BOTH Civ3.com and CivIII.com domains!!! No wonder so many people confused Call to Power with Civilization III because when people typed civ3.com or CivIII.com they are taken to Activision's homepage! Maybe Firaxis should sue Activision?

Thunderfall, I found THIS site by typing Civ2 on the AltaVista search engine - it was the first site that showed up. I am glad it was!

I think Firaxis would be quite justified if they sued for this. Activision should have no rights to the Civ III name. CTP was not Civ III!

Let's call for a boycott of Activision products. Since we're all gamers, and lots of our friends are gamers, we're the very group they're trying to target. So they'd get the hint rather quickly.

It's already done! There's a while since I last bought an Activision game. I've never appreciated Activision for its behaviour. But I suppose it's always the same thing for every editors. Money money money... Cybersquat too.

Activision is just jealous of Sid Meier and Firaxis. This is the only way they could try and get people to look at their games of similar design. Personally, I do not have any Activision games or plan on buying any.

Ok, if you don't mind, Thunderfall, I'm going to start a petition thread under Civ III: General discussions. If it works out, we could send it to both Activision and Firaxis. I'm just going to go on and do it, and I'll assume if you don't delete it then it's ok.

Youa are right! It seems Infogrames managed to get those domain names back peacefully.


Infogrames now owns these Civ3 domains, most of them were previosuly registered by Activision.
