Seriously, this would all make a pretty amusing scenario, for about five minutes, but I could do just fine without fan service in the game proper. Drawings and computer-generated nudity just don't do it for me.

But give me a live girl to sit next to me naked while I play who will get happy like a Piers Anthony character whenever I capture a city, and then we'll talk.

In the original Civ Board game from Avalon Hill, there was a whole turn sequence popularly referred to as copulation. -that was really where it all began. The origin of war, hunger, death, misery, and architecture. Sex.

-In the board game, ones units simply doubled, and forced solutions like emigration or war to solve the population issue...

-I wholeheartedly support the issue of brothels and I suggest we also get lusty virgins, that can be rescued during medieval times for extra bonuses (I tried incorporating them into a scenario -but it looks a bit silly when all the military units can do with them is fight them!)

Hey you've got something there, Morten!

My simple suggestion is this: Change the unit graphics for the barb leader so it looks like ye fair maiden... That way, instead of 'ransoming' a barbarian leader, you're 'rescuing' the damsel from the big bad barbs.

That unit is only used for barb leaders, so it doesn't change the game in any other way. In fact, now that I'm thinking of it, I like it so much that I can't wait to get home so I can do it. (Damn, I hope this rainy season ends soon so I can get out more...)

Except that I want to play this with my 8-year old son, and some other kids online I'm sure aren't old enough. Perhaps the adult mod-pack is a good idea, in compromise.

In fact, I did just that. How did you guess?
Its very amusing having these halfnaked chicks appear in remote corners of the map, but there's still a lot of blood, when your troops try to go get her....! -And the sound "ugh! ah!" (with swords and stuff) doesn't quite fit in... though it does add to the amusement...!

Can I suggest that perhaps a City Improvement might be the way to go in the area?
A lap dancing bar (modelled on the Carolina Cuties bar in Atlantic City, perhaps?) would make quite a number of citizens VERY happy!

Sorry to be a spoilsport here, but I don't like the idea of nudity in Civ3. I'm not a prude, it's just that I prefer sex and nudity to remain where (i feel) it belongs--in the bedroom and not on my screen.

With all due respect, what a bore! We're talking pixels here, not real women! Doesn't the glory of our civilization -which Civ is trying to simulate- deserve some attention to where you, me and everybody else began?

Well, to begin with, the nudepatch for the Sims is a bit of a bore. They look more like "featureless" Barbie dolls than objects of lust. But as for Civ, well, it cannot be denied that sex has played an important role in history - aside from the obvious fact that without it, none of us would be here. I have to say the Barbarian leader idea leaves me a bit...cold... (BTW, nice job on the "unit" Morten!) I definitely prefer my wife's embrace to a nekid Sim or Civ unit. For Civ, perhaps we could go in the opposite direction; perhaps if you don't do enough to keep the citizens of a city happy you'd start seeing brothels appear as a sign of corruption. (Social/moral decay, etc.) With every brothel comes a certain number of discontented citizens, ready for revolt. This would mean the cities farthest from the capital, cities that produce an inordinate amount of military units, etc. How's that sound? And maybe to throw a bone to the "oldest profession", the cities that have brothels could double their population growth at the same time... <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/blushing.gif" border=0>
