Tacit_Exit, that was a weird response. I certainly didnt mean to insult people from Aus. "Mate" is an expression that is used there. In fact, the Aus govt runs ads here that say "put another shrimp on the barbie mate". I cant beleive you would take offense at that. I also put a smilie after. However, your response to me was very rude. Explain why there is an issue about the patch in Aus.

Argghh! I'm in the middle of my first winning no-cheat Monarch game. I have to wait to install the patch till it's over, right?

I think I'll wait to download the patch I only play solo and don't see any big problems with what I have now. If tournaments start requiring the latest patch I'll think about it, but it doesn't look like a big change to me at this time.

What is it that makes it necessary to upgrade to this latest patch? Keeping up with the Jones?

These seem to be the two relevant ones I see for solo play.

Will be nice not to get nationalism every time. I think nationalism is a huge waste of a tech. Replaceable parts isn't far away and it's required. Of course nationalism sells for huge gp so it's great for that at least.

This is in reply to questions on whether it will affect current games you are involved in.

I (mistakenly) found out that if you download the patch. You can click on it again and it will take the patch out. I found this out cause I had 2 games that I could not play after I downloaded the last patch. I forgot if I had installed it and clicked on it again and you can quickly turn the patch off and play games that you were playing before you installed the patch.

    Pretty quick and Easy.

That's great OFW. So if that's the case then the new patch shouldn't hurt the GOTM since we can just turn the patch off when playing it.

Umm...when I install the patch and try to run it, it doesn't run at all from the shortcut, and if I run the executable, I get the message

"The sound header files used in the game do not match the ones used in sound.dll. Check all sound.h and sound device.h versions!"

    The game then crashes.

Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Does anyone know if they fixed the main problem with hotseat games? The one where only the second or first player could see the AI movements?

Um, that would be a big fat NO!

    Among other glaring hotseat issues . . . . ho hum . . . . *sigh*

    Hmm...

It looks that they added my MOD in PtW after all (with this patch).
Although it's an old version (1.01 compared to current 1.14).

And that non-PtW readme is missing (which details changes done both in PtW and non-PtW).

No, you can switch in the middle, it will automatically update.

    Don't know about SGs though...:(
