With Christmas upon us and the coming new year a week away, I thought I'd post....something. Here is my total games played, not counting GOTMs and SGs, in Civ3 (Mac version):

Civilization:

1. Egypt --- 9 times
2. Babylon --- 8 times
3. China --- 7 times
4. Iroquois ---- 6 times (highest score civ @ 6982 on monarch)
4. France --- 6 times
4. Persia --- 6 times
7. Russia --- 5 times
7. Rome --- 5 times
9. American --- 4 times
10. Japan --- 3 times
10. Aztecs --- 3 times
10. India --- 3 times
10. Germany --- 3 times
14. England --- 2 times
14. Greece --- 2 times
16. Zulu - 1 time

I've discovered that I've won monarch level games w/ all but four civs:

Germany
Greece
India
Zulu

This is now my new goal, to win an epic game w/ each civ on monarch level or higher.

Okay, I've completed it five days into the new year. I guess I need to try and win with all the civs on emperor level now.

Results:

Germany (space race)
Greece (diplomacy)
India (diplomacy)
Zululand (diplomacy)

Four Monarch games won in five days? What do you do with the rest oof your time? At that rate you could try for the Civ Permutation Award: Every Civ, on every victory condition, for every difficulty level. Then of course there are permutations with world size, land mass, climate, barbarians, ......

Seriously, do you restrict yourself on the other parameters, or do you go with random everything?

First, I'm a school teacher! :D Second, I was on my last few days of holiday break. Its now over! :(

I played them all on small continental maps. I usually choose my civ, barb level, and landmass.

Isn't it easier to win in smaller maps than larger ones? When you said "epic games" I thought you were playing huge.

On related news, after 20+ tries, I'm finally kicking ass as the Byzantines (Greeks) in Monarch (huge map, is the only way I play). I am almost 1000 points ahead of the nearest competitor, England, for whom I have some nasty plans, now that I have few Ironclads ready to tackle those Man-of-wars. I just finished assimilating the Americans, after having done the same to the Indians, Aztecs, and Zulus.

I was repulsed by the Chinese in Midieval times thanks to their Riders however, so the Byzantines have been bloodied. (basically I couldn't get troops to their island fast enough, lost two armies, 40+ units and the 4 cities I had captured).

One quirk I noticed is the small map at bottom left not showing my empire centered, but instead split among either sides. This is of course, heresy! Byzantium being the queen of all cities. Any way to adjust this little map?

Also I discovered how to rip off the computer, offering them newly discovered tech for 50-79 gold per turn! I also learned I could make extra money by lowering science when only one turn was left to complete research (my brother gave me that hint, don't know why I didn't think about it before). Any other little cheats I should know?

:D I play standard maps 90% of the time. I played small maps here so I could complete the goal (monarch victories w/ all "original" civs) sooner. I can't handle managing all those units on huge maps - too much time away from the kids. ;)

Not that I know of, wish there was. I really hate that too!

Best way to lead the tech race. It leaves the others civs too poor to increase their research rate.

Definitely a nice bonus for a job well done. Other little cheats? Hm, let me think....

Looks like a lot of us think the same way. I've got 3 civs left to win with on Monarch before I start on Emperor. I only use huge maps, though, so the games take a while.

Hi gfeier!

:wavey:

I guess you've been on the MOO3 boards mostly, eh?

Huge maps are only allowed for those enjoying retirement. Right? ;)
