CIV4 CRC error during install

I am unable to install Civ IV on my Dell Laptop (1.8G 512MB) computer. I get an error near the end of the installation. While it is processing the file "Sid Meier's Civilization 4.msi," I get the following error:

Feature: C++ Runtime Libraries 7.1
Component:
File:
Error: Data error (cyclic redundency check)

I have tried running in safe mode and get the same error. It seems like it might be a damaged file on Disk 2, but I have seen a lot of other CRC errors posted... just no solutions that make sense to me.

Any ideas?

PROBLEM SOLVED -- I talked with tech support. They said it could be a bad disk or just an over loaded computer while installing. They suggested that I use MSCONFIG to disable all Startup programs and try to install. It hung up just as before. I next tried to copy both CDs to the desktop in a folder. Still got the CRC error. I tried to install it on several other computers. No joy. They said that they would send me another set of CDs. Since I purchased them at a major retailer, I just went back there and exchanged it for another program. The second one loaded up just fine. I purchased a second copy to load on an identical computer and it loaded and runs just fine too.

Not sure if this is everyone's problem, but I'll bet it is the problem when the CD hangs up on the ...msi file.

Yea, had this problem too. I replaced my cd-rom drive with a new one I had laying around and it loaded just fine.
