Civ4 - OpenAL or 5.1 Sound?

Does anyone know if Civ4 supports:

- OpenAL sound
OR
- 5.1 sound

Wondering if I should upgrade my soundcard for the game...

Definitely supports 5.1. The various 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 surround sound (discrete) are all options (I have a 7.1 speaker setup) but I use EAX4 instead as the in-game sound settings. However, you don't have to worry. There're plenty o' sound options to cover your bases.
