Does anyone know anything about this? I heard it will be easier and allow more, as it has been with every civ game before it.

.............. So... Anyone planning on any mods / scenarios already? :mischief:

Lua will be used for scripting, there will be modding tools, and a seperate map editor. I think that's the most that's been said. Also they will release the games sdk like they did for civ iv.

Will any of the graphics features use the same filetypes and mechanisms as Civ IV thus ensuring backwards / forwards capacity? For instance, if the same core files for Leaderheads were used, it would be fairly simple for players to export Leaderheads from their Civ IV mods to Civ V (or export some of the Civ V graphics to Civ IV for those that don't care for Steam)

we'll probably be able to use static dds images for LH's right off the bat (just a guess). I doubt they'll use some crazy file types, considering it needs to be moddable. Eventually animated ones will likely come into play.

Since this thread is more modding and its only a slightly different topic, RFC in civ 5, I heard some stuff before, but not recently with the new info (like civ 4 maps can be converted into civ 5 maps)

i hope apart from the programming possibilities there'll be a mod editor like in civ2, but i guess that hope is in vain.

I will probably wait for the game to be released and then decide if or not to make MODS or maps after I have gotten to know the modding tools. I never personally made mods for Civ 4, and I never saw the point in creating any new maps when the game itself did a much better job at simply doing so itself. But how knows, of the modding tools are good enough and easy to use then perhaps I will consider making a MOD/map or two! ;)
