CivAssist II

CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

It may be useful to others to have the 2.0 version availble. As people get new systems, they may have trouble find older version of NET. A;sp if they have to reinstall XP for any reason, such as a new HD.

While we're on the subject of .NET, there's something which has been bothering me for quite a while. Why doesn't CAII run on a MAC? As a .NET app it should.

Do you cheat and access Windows directly instead of going through the framework? Why would you do that in this type of programme? What am I missing here?

CivAssist on a Mac? See here.

Have you got the .net framework running on a Mac? I new it was being worked on - Rotor is it? But yes, we do use the windows API for some stuff - in particular, hooking windows to control things like "zoom to game", pasting the button on the main screen etc.

I don't have a MAC and really don't know too much about .NET either. I have played with it a bit but never did any serious programming with it. I'm a C++ guy myself.

Thanks for the explanation, though. So it's Windows hooks, eh? Yes, it makes sense that they wouldn't be part of the framework.

Hello
Nice work. I'm programing too in VB net and C++. Just wondered if you can make an anticheat tool. Saw that allert for rival that has a lot of money. Is that applies to the rivals that you are at war with them? Also can be possible to detect cheat like money triners and unit trainers? (or others)

Good to see you got it sorted. Technically, we do have a .Net 2.0 version, but to save people downloading the.Net 2.0 framework, we left it at .Net 1.1 (or 1.4, or whatever version it is now at).
Is nothing bad with NetFramework 1.1 and is quite smaller than 2.0 and less buggy.

After hearing so many great things about this program, I decided to check out. However, after all the system updating I have to do just to open the installation file, I'm starting to think it's not worth it. I don't want to update to SP3 and then update to WI 3.0 and then upgrade to .NET 2.0 just so I can get a few advantages in Civ III. I like my computer the way it is, thank you.

Why tell us? Anyway CAII uses .net 1.1 or 1.0 and not 2.0. Ainwood has not made the 2.0 version available.

Framework 1.1 is required for application made with Visual Studio.net 2003. And CivAssist is such an application. Is a difference between Framework 1.0(1.1) and Framework 2.0. They are not compatible. For running programs that are made with VS.net 2005 you net Framework 2.0 (but is not CivAssist case). You just need 1.1 version for CivAssist II that is smaller than 2.0. Also if you still have Win 2000 is better to have SP4 cause there are security fixes.
Civ Assist dosnt work with Framework 2.0.
You can download net framework 1.1 from:
http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlmsnet.html
or from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
And you dont need to upgrade to SP3.

Ah, sorry. Forgive me for my ignorance. =P Thanks a bunch for the help, as I can now install CAII and try it out.

Just found a wee little bug. There's an option on the diplomacy tab to zoom to map for a given civ. If the civ has no cities left (i.e. they're down to a settler in a boat somewhere), it gives you an unhandled exception error (I'm guessing null pointer? :))

Hey - thanks.

I had a look, and as far as I can tell, that error should be handled. Can you post a save with this situation? Or e-mail it to me at gotm@civfanatics.net?

Thanks!

I get errors when I run it.

Since the errors are in a different language, I will still try and explain. It says something like.

Process-ID=0x878 (2168), thread-ID=0xa1c (2588) -- or something.

Says something about "JIT" then cordbg.exe !a 0x878 - Any idea what the problem is? I have .Net Framework 1.1

Thannks.

No, sorry that I explained it in a such a bad way.

The program won't even start/open at all. Whenever I try to execute/run the program I get the error.

Thanks for help.

Hello Ainwood,

First off, thanks for a great utility!

Now, of course, the begging. ("You only write ven you VAHNT something, sonny!")

May I ask for a way to toggle off CA's monitoring for the latest sav file temporarily? I have a rather slow and weak computer, and going from turn to turn during the first 20 turns or so is really slowed down/made more frustrating when CA is running, because it does its little dance of notice a new save, restore (as in Windows windows' Restore button), immediately re-minimize, and somewhere along the way freeze the game at least once. It does this *whenever* it does its thing, but on later turns I don't mind, because the value of the information/overview it provides outweighs the inconvenience. But in the first twenty turns or so, the scales are tipped against its use. I can simply exit CivAssist whenever I start a new game and re-launch it when the game reaches a decently advanced state, of course, and that's indeed what I do, but having an option to merely "deactivate" it would be much more convenient.

Cheers,

Lo5

Maybe I'm just dumb but:HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK IN THE GAME!!Whenever I start up Civ3, the swordsmand icon doesn't pop up but I downloaded the program. I am using Civ3 Complete on a Dell laptop. Any help?

This is how I start it. After I have started the game, I press the windows key and then start civassist with an ordinary shortcut icon.
