I wasn't going to post (the other, ignorantly critical, CivCity thread was a downer) but here's a couple of fun things not yet mentioned:
You can move houses around at will. You can also reassign jobs, but moving is usually easier when the homeowner is too far from his work. The first dwellings are "country" huts/hovels that upgrade in place. When you achieve the upgrade from large hovel to small insula, you must manually move the house to a new lot or to become the second story of a downtown business! The latter is desirable because it frees up much needed land. Finally upon the upgrade from large insula to small domus, the house must again be relocated to the "country".
I'm enjoying this game alot and hope people will try for themselves before deciding.
