Oh what a difference a year can make! Last year at this time, Europe was fighting each other figuratively to win the World Cup. Now they are fighting each other for their very lives.
In Switzerland, the ENTIRE French 4th Corps has surrendered to German attackers. There are whispers of a "Vierte Reich" all over the continent. The Italians, who helped the Germans into Switzerland, have annexed Croatia, and moved their fleet, with which I am traveling, into the Mediterraenean. These forces here are on the very highest alert.
The fighting on the eastern front has become more intense, as Russian and Polish forces have clashed in several spots, and Ukraine continues to push for the Volga.
The Islamic Wars (As the rest of Europe calls them) have increased in intensity. Egyptian forces have crossed into Syria, and are swiftly heading north. The Turks are gamely holding onto their territory, in the midst of this onslaught.
Elsewhere in Europe, many of the factions have not cast their lot in either direction, but positioned forces for a better defensive, or offensive posture.
