Civic Flavor's Mod

Made for Rise of Mankind 2.71

The goal of the Civics's Flavor mod is to enhance the AI's decision making process in regard to civics. Often times, the AI will make historically inaccurate civic choices for reasons that seem illogical to the player. For example, it is common for Lincoln to choose "Slavery" as an early civic, even though this is highly contradictorily to history.

The Civics's Flavor Mod does the following thing:
  • Adds 5 new flavors to the AI's, which allow them to pick civics more accurately. See notes here:
    Spoiler :
    The 5 new flavors are Centrism, Authoritarian, Libertarian, Left and Right.
    Left and Right refer to the political spectrum, usually in economic policies. Authoritarian refers to a leaders (lack of) willingness to give freedom to his people
    Libertarian means vice versa of Authoritarian.

    These flavors allow the AI to pick civics in respect to their political leanings, forcing them to make smarter choices.
  • Custom SDK with Jooyo's changes v 1.18 included, along with Civics's having flavors
  • Adds Flavors to Military Civics and Ideology Civics
  • Ideology Civics are now picked better (The AI used to do a even 50-50 split for Objectivism or Socialism)
  • Added a new upkeep amount for civics, "Astronomical Upkeep," used for Socialized and Socialism.

Version History: 1.2

Players will not actually notice any changes to the game (Unless they didn't already have Ideology or Military Civics). This Mod only enhances the AI's performance.

This mod is compatible with Jooyo's addons, version 1.18 or less. Do not install his CoreDLL addon overtop of this one, as it INCLUDES his.

Updated. Everything should now work, except for the fact that Jooyo's CoreDLL crashes for unknown reasons after 300+ turns. He is currently working on a solution.
 
I reverted to Jooyo's CoreDLL 1.12 changes, so Civic Flavor's is now safe to use, as long as you don't use Jooyo's addons rated for 1.13+.

Civic's Flavor is now version 1.0 and safe to use. There are no bugs associated with it.

Yes, if you don't want ideologies, just delete that folder; or vice versa for Military.
 
I crashed with your gamecore. You said it was based on Jooyo's 1.12.
So I went ahead and removed your gamecore and its relevant files, and reinstalled Jooyo's gamecore (1.12 of course). No crashes at all. And it is confirmed by the fact that I am FAR along now with Jooyo's dll than I was with yours.

I know. I was hoping I could solve the problem quickly and quietly. However, I seem to have missed something. I will post when I fix it.
 
Hi, I've recently given your mini-mod a spin with Civ4 Complete, Blue Marble, and RoM 2.71 and have encountered a few issues. Mainly during mod loading I'm spammed with two errors regarding "Modern_Mine_Improvement Info class was incorrect" and multiple loadXML call/ load failures regarding the new leader heads added. Strangely none of them cause a CTD while loading, and after clicking ok for every single one the mod loads just fine. I've yet to try a test game however to verify everything is working. Any idea what the problem is or how it could be fixed?

It sounds like you are using Rise of Mankind 2.7, which doesn't have the Modern Mine or new leaders included. I recommend you download 2.71.

Thanks, and sorry for the false bug report then. Looked closer and yeah I did grab 2.7 instead of 2.71, really do need to get my eyes checked. Everything seems to be working now, no bugs as of yet.

Thanks for some very nice mods to ROM.
It sound like this mod will give the leaders more integrity, but does it also make the leaders better, like a harder opponent?

Cool mod, though I don't like the way any of the civics are set up right now, its not very realistic.
