Civics?

I would hate it if they made it impossible to change. That's unrealistic. However, making it more difficult, for instance Republic to Democracy would be easier (Wait, I think it is backwards, Republic is like Rome or the US while Democracy is like Ancient Greece) however, I get what your saying.

What I'd like to see is if you're economic civic (for lack of a better term) is capitalism/Free Market and you switch to Communism with the snap of a finger, you'll face revolts, maybe even a segment of your empire will secede and form a new civ. On the other hand, if you maybe switch to Welfare Capitalism, then Socialism, then Communism, its more gradual. You wait longer, but don't totally shut down in the process. It'll make some interesting decisions if they go with this.

There will be no civics in

. They have changed into "Social Policies". That's the most anyone knows at this point.

Facepalm.png
is the new Civ5 icon! [civ5] fails at being a distinguishable icon.

I'm hoping that Social Policies will work in a similar fashion to the ones in Hearts of Iron-at least at the most basic level. i.e. a left-right path down which you can push your civilization in various areas (so Pacifistic vs Militaristic; Authoritarian vs Democratic; Slavery vs Free Labor; Fundamentalist vs Liberal).

Aussie.

For example, a famous Dutch lawyes was once called a 'maffiamaatje' which translates as 'buddy of a mobster.' This hurt of course the reputation of the lawyer, who sued the journalist over this. In the end the journalist was not penalised because his insult served a purpose - or at least the judged felt it did. You can see that this is a very, very fine line.
The issue here was slander and defamation of name, which are different things. (And as far as I know are valid legal concepts in the US and the UK.) If PRdV had called Moszkowicz a 'klootzak' (a scrotum) there would have been no legal case whatsoever.

The problem with slander and defamation of name, is that you are presenting a falsehood as a truth, that is damaging to a persons reputation. As long as you are merely stating a matter of opinion you are legal safe. Also in the Netherlands.

There some exceptions where insults are not allowed in the Netherlands:
*Insulting the queen/king.
*Insulting a member of government of befriended nation.
*Insulting civil servant doing his duty.

I hope it will at least prevent such absurdities as having a police state with free speech.

USA anyone?

Come live in my Monarchistic Vassallized Communist Organized Religious country. Everthing is better here. :king:
