civilization 3 error 1305

hi,i am having a problem installing civ3 it gets to the end and says it cant read the peace sound(or verify that it exists)

the error is: "error 1305 error reading from file C:\programfiles\firaxis games\civilization III\sounds\diplomusic\dipmeearlypeace.mp3. verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
the other error is: "error: 1603 fatal error during instalatiom. consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information."
please help me

Can you browse to the file in Windows Explorer? Is the disc damaged?

I looked into it and it appears there are faulty sectors on the game disk, but there are no scratches or smudges on the disk. Do you think I have to re buy or is there a fix to this?

You could try copying the disc to your hard drive and installing it from a temp folder. You'll still need the cd in the drive to authenticate, but it should work.

Any chance you can return it? Or is it past the return-by date?

i tried making a virtual copy of the disk but it said there was damaged sectors, so i still got the same error when i installed it. i also skewed up because its way past the return date.
it you have any other ideas they would be welcome

At this point I would probably just invest in a new copy of the game. Complete (Civ3, PTW and Conquests) will run you about $15 at Amazon.

OR get it on steam for 5 buckaroos and never bother with a CD again!
