Civilization 5 Expansion

Who is going to buy an expansion if you can't even mod the current game meaningfully yet? The game has been out for nine months now yet there are still problems that need patched. Hell, its taken nearly ten months just to get Civopedia accessible from the main menu.

That doesn't prove that they are going to do the same thing with CiV, and you have no basis for your OPINION that there will not be expansions. One of the moderators mentioned in a post that they were working on an expansion for a holiday 2011 release.

If they were going to release an expansion for the still somewhat popular (on Steam at least) Civilization 5, why didn't they announce it at E3 like Paradox announced A House Divided?

Yeah, this is what I feel. Could an expansion still happen? Maybe, but typically, an expansion comes out ~ a year after the base game does. With no announcement at E3, that means it's extremely unlikely one comes out until maybe around Christmas. Again, it could still happen, but before I thought it was a certainty. It's definitely not.

You guys might be right but this is a unique situation. How many games that clearly came out way too early in the development process and have their lead designer quit a few months after release still manage to release an expansion on a regular schedule?
