Wow! I loved the article. Very good find.

Personally I'd like to hear some more, especially after the founding of Firaxis and Civ3 and upwards, but the article is very through on the history of the series.

Of the many games it created, all but one franchise is forgotten

...uh...so wrong.
MicroProse also did Master of Orion, Railroad Tycoon, Mech Warrior and XCOM. Civ is unarguable the most famous at the moment, but not the only well known.

Really interesting article! I remember back then seeing a friend's older brother and not really understanding it... only to come back years later and discover the Civ series for myself.
