Civilization III Complete Campaign Victory Error

Hello, i have civ3 complete and am running it on a windows xp dell laptop.

When I win or lose a standard game on Civ3 Complete, I move through the Summary Screens and then it saves my score to the hall of fame.
All fine and dandy.

However, when i play and finish any Conquests Campaign and then move through the summary screens, just before it saves my score...it Crashes: ''Civ3 has encountered an error and has to close''.

When i play a Conquests Campaign and then retire, it works fine. (probably because when you lose a campaign, no score is entered. So it must have trouble saving the score or something).

I've won loads of campaigns and it still crashes at the end and keeps no score or trace that i've ever completed a campaign.

This is quite frustrating and is beginning to annoy me.

Could anyone help me please?

Sounds like a messed up '.BIK' file.

Look for the folder 'Conquests/Conquests/Art/Movie' and find the file 'victory_movie.bik'. Rename it to something like 'victory_movie.bik.OLD' or some such. Then copy and rename one of the other .bik files to 'victory_movie.bik'.

In one of the other threads in this section is a link to RadTool, which has gadgets to let you view the .bik files. It is a specialized movie file.

Look in the "Conquests" folder for a file named "CampaignRecord.hof". If it says its a read only file, change it.

I recall this "Read-only" problem appearing before.

Exactly.

If the problem is the "read-only" switch, just turn it off.
