Civilization IV Game of the year edition Install problems

I am having big problems trying to install this game on my computer (windows XP home edition)

I did at one point have this game installed, however due to hard drive space issues, I uninstalled it to make room for another game. Well today I wanted to play Civ IV again. I made room for it and went to install it and I get this;

It says play not install (please note that it is not on my computer)
I tried going right to the setup program itself and installing it, and get the following;

um ok, this game has been uninstalled for several months, however I went to add or remove programs to

now here comes the problem when I click remove I get this error;

I tried searching my computer for anything relating to Sid Meier's Civilization 4 (including hidden files, subsystem files) and I come up with nothing.

How can I get rid of this file with having to format my computer?

is this just civ4 or also an expansion that was previously installed?

If you have already gone through and deleted Civ 4 from the directory you installed it in, it probably still has some lines in the systems configurations. You will need to download a registry cleaner to get rid of them. The one I use is called Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, it's a free program.
