Hey, Civ fans! :wavey: We’re rolling out a small, Steam-only patch to address player-reported issues. These changes are on the way to other platforms with the upcoming Update 1.2.2.
  • The Building breakdown will now correctly show Building Yields, and the Yield breakdown will now correctly display Building icons.
  • Resolved a reported issue where players could encounter a corrupted loading screen that prevented them from proceeding into gameplay.
If you’re still running into issues after this patch, please let us know through our support portal: https://support.civilization.com/hc/requests/new

Thanks all!

After installing the patch, I get a different entirely black screen on launch - that was working before. It happens on load before any menu or video or anything is shown. Pressing x to close the window does nothing and I have to end task in task manager. I've tried validating integrity of game files and it didn't change anything.

FFS. It's a comedy of errors at this point. We really did pay to be beta testers, and not just for a few weeks.

Not seeing this myself, you don't have any mods on by any chance? Or perhaps it is a HW issue? What machine do you have?

Core i9 5.8Ghz with 256GB RAM and RTX 5070Ti as the video card. No mods (I can’t get into the game at all, so can’t turn them off in-game. I had to use CivMods to uninstall everything and it didn’t change anything.) Other games are working fine (as well as AI workloads, which is what this machine was mainly built for), so I guess it’s not the video card.

Wow, yeah. That is a pretty decent machine, to say the least! :P GPU drivers updated to latest, of course? Not sure what else could help Firaxis troubleshoot it, but perhaps add your dxdiag.... :hmm: Hope it's easily fixable! I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, so worst case it's a unique/very seldom bug...

EDIT: I see you use Vulcan. Your card would be better off using DX12. Tried that?

Hey @protocol7 - please definitely submit a bug report for this (including your save file would be a huge help) if you haven't yet. If you could, let me know your ticket ID# as well so I can make sure it gets escalated. Sorry to hear you're running into this - we'll take a look!
