Civilization3.exe Problem

I have gone through this forum and have seen this question come up at least 3 times with no adequate reponse. I now have experienced this error on two different systems. When I could not find out how to fix it and that the message said contact Microsoft I went out and got a new system. I installed the program but when I got to the registration part I could skip it. I registered when I bought the game. 2 system, 2 different operationing system (2000 and 64) reinstalled 3 times on each and the same result. Note: I do not get booted on games where I have no chance of winning. The last game I got two wonders, discovered Metalurgy, and had Saltpeter show up on the same turn and I never get to put the hammer down on the opposition afterward.
