Civilizations that should have been in civ III

Sumers (instead of Babylonians)
Turks (Middle Asian, Huns, Ottoman or Anatolian, well, maybe all of them)
Mongols
Spanish
Incas
Arabs
Vikings
Hitits

Then Aztec should not have its place either. So I don't agree.

Mongols and Ottoman are important in the history but, they choosed

I share the same fear as Psiwar. I hope we can add as much civilizations as we can, instead of replacing one of listed.

Canadian and Australian? Nope! They are old colonies that got their independence from Britain just because London wanted to get rid of them. When I looked at the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Sydney, I was very astonished to see how poor the Aussie's music is. Most of the songs were americans. No offense Australians, you are nice but, you are not different enough from the English empire to be considere as a distinct civilization placed among the top 16 of the game.

"Canada

Everyone knows how powerful their air force is... Both jets at thats"

 Come on! Gimme a break! There is a reason why in the South Park movie you see the leaders of UN laughing out loud to the Canada's menace by the prime minister. Canada is joke. These days, the gov't increased the military budget to be taken more seriously.

I think it will be interesting to see all the civilizations the fans will create with all the leaders.

This subject is getting beat to death!

Way to many threads about best "civ"

Can't we find another topic. I am just about to the point of hitting "next thread" the second I see a best civ topic.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz

Turks and Mongols.

If u didnt know Turks branched off from mongols and migrated to asia minor from west china and mongolia. Some early Turkish tribes were the Gokturks, Seljuks, and White Huns.

Some Turkic countries today are: Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Autonomous Region of Xinjiang (in China), Tatarstan (autonomous), Kyrgyztan, Bashkortostan (autonomous), Chuvashia (autonomous), Crimea (autonomous), Daghestan (autonomous), Gagouzia (autonomous), Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (not internationally recognized), and Tuva (autonomous)

Hehe, I see this is almost as hot a topic on CivFanatics as it is on Apolyton :D
You guys really want to check out how 'us Polytubbies' resolved (or actually, are still resolving) the endless discussions here. Especially the history buffs among you will also want to check out the links from the first post...

The Byzantines should definintly been in, and so should the Ottoman Turks. Polish and Ethiopians would have made good civs too. I'm going to delete the Zulus, and make the Ethiopians instead. That's all for now.

Beware of their cultureal attacks as well, Americans are starting to do that annoying "aye" after every sentance... Sooner or latter New York will jump ship...

Yeah! I was always the 'Canadians' in CIVII. Well, I would alternate btw that and 'Dances with Hot Chicks', head of the Native Americans.

mmmyeah. Spanish and Mongols both had huge empires so should blatantly be in. Those two did more for world history than the Iroquois or Aztec did (no disrespect to them, but neither came near out-producing or conquering everyone else).

Vikings are a bit overrated - basically just barbarians...

If we're going to have Canada, we've got to have Belgium.

The funny thing is, they're a member of NATO.

Dear Avahz Darkwood

Canada/Aus Should not be part of the game as it is part of the British Commonwealth/Empire.

Plus they dont have a good air force as the current powerlist down to Canada in NATO is

1. U.S
2.Great Britian
3.France
4.Canada

I want the Swiss, they're tough people. When they have been attacked, the attacker got thier lunch handed to them (Muahahahahahaha). :) Plus Switzerland is one of the longest lasting Civ/Countries in the world. Also they'd be Commercial and Industrious.

William Tell could be the leader ;)

I have a thing for the Swiss, I'm Swiss, my brother lives there, and it's just a cool country.

:scan:

As I posted before:

the Koreans, the Indonesians, the Vietnamese, the Armenians, the Mexicans, the Olmecs, the Cherokee, the Hopi, the Zuni, the Anasazi, the Cambodians, the Venetians, the Inuit, the Prussians, the Toltecs, the Welsh, the Austrailians...so many civs!!! I am glad so many are respresented though... now we just need the ultimate race!..the Human Race...:)

They left out the Mayans and Incans (both being in civ2) Mongals [Ghangis Khan was the greatest conquerer in history!] (again in civ2) and the spanish [hello SPANISH CONQUISTADORS!] (also in civ2)

Also why are the Zulu even here? and the Iroquois?compared to the other 3 Native American tribes (Aztecs, Mayans and Incans) they are the worst conquerers!

Actually the Iroquois conquered quite a lot of territory and many peoples. But conquering alone
doesn't cut it for me. I prefer civs that helped human civilization progress. So I'm happy with the Iroquois and wouldn't trade them in for, say, the Mongols.

'Should have been' implies to leave others out.
I would have chosen the Mayas over the Aztecs, the Arabs over the Persians and the Ethiopians over the Zulus.
Once additional slots become available, I'd also like to add the Dutch, Nubians, Australians and Brazilians.

India and Fiji are also part of the British Commonwealth. Shall we leave them out for being too British? :)

But seriously, this is CIVILIZATIONS, not nations. In order to justify a different civ you have to identify a fundamentally different culture. That's why there really shouldn't be Canadians, Australians or New Zealanders. If you're going to have Brazil then put the Portugese or Spanish instead. As for the Swiss and Belgians, aren't they just a mix of French, German and other cultures?

China is a civilization. Spain and Latin America are a civilization. Switzerland is not a civilization.

Chris 01- UK.
The Vikings were not barbarians. If you believe you are your history on the subject is skewed towords popular myth. If you want them to be barbarians then so should the Mongols.

As for the people bored with these threads on custom civs remember their are a lot of people outsie north america still waiting for the game and are still in anticipation of it. If you don't want to read the thread you don't have to.

Phew, just let off a bit of steam didn't mean to be agressive

Anyway i'd definetly make the Arabs. As a civ who conquered the middle east, north africa and a bit of spain (didnt they?) Plus they were long after the egyptians.

Also the city of alexandria: Greek or Egyptian?
It was founded by Alexander the great as his capital when he conquered egypt so by that it was a Greek city. But clearly it was a city at the heart of late ancient egypt. Maybe both civs should have it?

I think there is already plenty of Arab/Middle Eastern/Muslim influence in the game. Egypt/Babylonia (modern day Iraq)/Persia (modern day Iran) are plenty for that influence. Why do you need Arab after that? :egypt: And for what it's worth, Persians are decendents of Germanic tribes.

Spain, Yes I can see that. They are responsible for the colonization (along with Portugal) of all of South and Central America. In another thread I read here someone stated that they didnt think Religious and Exspanionist belonged together. That is totally false and the Spanish conquest of the America's is the prime example. Why do you think South and Central America are predominantly Catholic and Spanish speaking???

In all the forums discussing different Civs I have yet to see anyone mention one of the greatest and most powerful of its time.

The Nubian (Kush) Empire initiated much of the trade and expansion of the known world (Egypt) for hundreds and hundreds of years.

The Nubians actually controlled and ran Egypt as Pharaohs for nearly 300 years. They settled the entire African continent and their culture is recognized from America to Asia.

Everyone should open their minds to greater knowledge encased in our world history.
