Civilopedia online

I have never done a wiki so don't know it is supposed to look like. However I have hand coded html for ages :) Can you point me at a recommended quick guide to wiki programming book or web page?

Also being old I don't think I have gotten over the party yet ;)

I know that MediaWiki is the software used for running most Wiki sites. I suppose this might be helpful.

OK, you are talking about final layout (I think) which is Wiki. My first concern was getting the Civ-RoM XML into a form which we could then move into a Wiki. The places you pointed me at seem to talk more about individuals loading small bits of data. As I was looking at it I was reminded that a friend of mine is a Wiki site manager. Since he is my vintage I expect he can understand what it is I don't know better ;). We have both had to build programs in machine code but he, being slightly older, has had to do so with hardware also. Maybe he can help me. It is also a very good excuse to go and get a really good coffee.

Okay. As for the XML to HTML, I suppose it will be easy to change [TAB] to a real tab, and so on, but what are your plans for every modifiers ? Are you going to read the XML files in the BuildingInfos to fill in the placeholders in the Gametext?

So far I have not seen and example of what you speak of but I don't see a problem. It becomes a two or three pass process that way you do not have to hard code anything in the programs and so forth.

As I said by using some naming standards derived from the keys/tags we can easily make the linkages but a second pass would be needed to replace the civ_link_name eg "BONUS_POTATOES" with correct language text eg "pomes d tere" if you pardon my (very) poor French.

I think I can contribute £10 for someone to start RiseofMankind.com :)

I think that address is already in use by a mod project for Freelancer game.

Well, the offer stands if you want a website for your spectacular mod, Zappara :)

Not sure if anyone still checks this, but got nostalgic and wanted to play some civ rom and, but after I installed it; had a problem with my civilopedia where it does not show any texts for the units. Anyone else experience this? I looked into my text folder and it seems that it is missing that file. I deleted and re-downloaded the mod but it still happens. Can someone please upload their unit text pedia file? Thanks.
