Clearing forests for 10 sheilds

Does clearing a forest you planted not give you 10 shields?

I'm trying to create a bit of forest industry outside my capital to help with the sistine chapel, but it doesn't seem to be giving me the edge.


What gives?

It doesn't work with wonders. Also, once you chop a forest, you can replant it, but it (giving 10 shields) only works once.

each square is limited to giving a 10 shield chop yeild once?

does it work for small wonders?

No you cannot.

All wonders can only be built with shields produced by the city. If you chop a forest or disband a unit whilst the wonder is under construction then no shields are added. If a normal building has shields from a chop or disband then the option to switch to a wonder becomes unavailable.

Forest chops also won't help the palace or spaceship parts, IIRC.
