I hope this time, clearing jungle wont give you grasslands, because in the real world it isn't, when you clear it, you get a desert after a while.

Jungles are only rich environments only so long as it's kept in its entirety.. the soil does not really retain much of the mineral/nutrient content needed to support crops and whatnot once the trees and underbrush are removed. But it's also not exactly a desert... more of a sub-par dying grassland...

How about if you burn them (rainforest-shmainforest :D).
And then mix ashes with the soil.
Could it then be used for crops?

aka slash and burn farming? could work i suppose

"Slash and Burn" only makes good soil for a short while (only a couple crop seasons). That's why farmers and co keep pushing further into the South American Rainforests (at least one reason, that is).. because the nice ash-rich soil works well for a little bit, then won't grow squat.

i almost feel bad clearing jungles in the game...i cant help but imagin some strange 7-toed civsloth still clinging to the tree as it falls..lol

and are jungles really that disease infested or is it because the mostly occur in poor regions of the world with no good health system? i always thought the rich white civilizations brought disease to the jungle natives...not as in the game were the jungle cuases disease

i would just like the ability to turn off the disease attribute of certain terrain in the game... i just dont like it and i would rather not play with that rule....

The "white civilizations" didn't bring malaria to the jungle. There's also a lot of things other than disease that can kill you in a jungle (venemous snakes and insects, wild animals, poisonous plants...).

i know there are alot of things that can kill you in a jungle..i just dont think having a city close to one should increase your disease. Aboriginals didnt die off in massive droves in the jungle untill we found them. jungles didnt bring small pox or the plague or influenza.. i know nasty things can come from there(ebola)..but no worse then any other region.

Maybe you must be able to have some sort of health system (hospital?), so the jungles don't increase your diseases in your city.
