anyone else think that the new Champ Man is absolutely shocking! I much prefer the previous versions. Everything about the new game is awful and i find myself playing on the previous version than the latest one. Sorry one of my favourite games ever is now rubbish i hope the enxt one is a huge improvement or i won't buy it again. Anyone else agree, disagree? Nooooooo! How could you say those things! Its actually playable and perhaps some of your friends were too busy to download the patches, or perhaps their PCs weren't up to running the game at a fast speed so they just blame the game instead.

It is a absoloutly brilliant game there is so much good new stuff with in the game most noteable being able to watch the matches which was lacking for some people in the previous versions but you do have to go into a lot more detail but when i some times look back on my old copy of 01/02 i see how much it has improved
No most people don't complain about the gamespeed it's simply the fact that transfers aren't as good. I can't quite put my finger on what i don't like about the transfer system but there is something? On a matchday the font is far too small however i do like being able to watch the game! The presentation of your squads is annoying as again it is too small. When you try and buy a player it doesn't say whether he will join you- so youhave to make a bid for him to tell you he doesn't want to join. I also use tactics which meant i was winning about 3 to 4 games a season 10-0! How unrealistic! In the premiership i was Man U and won 32 games out of 38 and finished 2nd! Arsenal won 34 matches! C'mon that is absurd! I like the fact you were given match odds but when you responded to the media nothing happened! You compiment a player- nothing you criticise a player- nothing. I just find it annoying and miss the fact that you can't see the ground in the background on a matchday. I'm sad to say this but i am really disappointed with their latest attempt. Might mean i work at school abit more though as often you discuss tactics in class, or think of finishing that season where there's only 2 matches left when your supposed to be learning quadratic equations etc..! Hasn't anyone else noiced stupid match results? Maybe you might win 10-0 once in your managerial career but 3 to 4 times a season? Feel free to correct me if the downloadable patch would have corrected these "bugs"? What is this patch and what does it do?

It's a superb game! Easily my favourite of the series. The in game screen is great and the basic structure of the game has only improved. Great game.

Make sure you have EP5 loaded - if you are running it straight out of the box you will have a poorer game.
I find it great - yeah there were a couple of issues leading to the need for patches, but now I think it's turned the corner. Some people on the boards still find some bugs, especially with injuries and morale, but I have to say I'm not experiencing those.

Small font? What are you talking about?
The game engine can't cope with 'centralized' tactics (2-2-2-2-2), and has problems with 'a-symetric' tactics (for example, 4-1-3-2, with two central midfielders and a right winger who comes in to the AMC position). Those things are 'exploits', just as civilization has them.

Perhaps you are running the wrong screen resolution which is making the writing small... I've never won 10-0, been close against poor opposition but not against league opponants and I really think you shold download the patches, as there was a patch out on the first day.
I can't download patches for the computer that i play CM4 on. We have two PCs and the rubbish one is hooked up to the internet as on the good one we can't get a connection! I just didn't feel as though the game was very realistic and felt extremely detached from the game i was playing. It is also too easy after your first season as you can sign players on free's which guarantees promotion every season! I really don't like it and will try and flog it to someone.

Ah. You should ask someone with a cd burner to get the patch for you. The patch is really necessary, it fixes a huge amount of bugs. I got the EP4 patch some weeks ago, it works much better now.
Especially that annoying bug where your players are on international duty the day of an european cup match
Still, I had to play the dutch cup final three days after the CL final, and there were 13 players on international duty (European championships, holland beat portugal 3-0 in the finals

I have no idea. Were there 1, 2 and 3 before it? In Germany it is sold under the name "EA Fussball Manager 2003", it's by a team that has already made several purely German football manager games before.
This year's version has also been sold abroad, maybe EA took an already established brand for it. Still I have no idea about possible differences in the versions.

EA? CM4 isn't an EA game... EA championship manager is a really different game afaik.
Am suprised no one else thinks it's rubbish. Will try and get the patch on a CD. It annoys me because there are loads of scenarios i wanted to download from CFC but couldn't could these be put onto a CD? I won the World Cup with England (Beattie is amazing!) and was then sacked? If i'd been knocked out in the 1st round would the board have been delighted?
