College Football 2008

Too bad you didn't pick them to win :p

Probably because unless we have Vince and they have Rhett Bhomar or a converted WR playing QB, we get rolled.

This team has no fear, which is good since we have a murderous last half of the year.

Well, the Missouri game won't be that bad for you as they always seem to get tight when it's all on the line (particularly Chase Daniel).

Great win though for Texas, they should be the number 1 team when the polls come out later today. Oklahoma though should be the highest ranked team with one loss. Their offense just looked amazing at times yesterday.

My new top 5

1. Texas
2. Penn State
3. Alabama
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida

Oh, and Michigan lost to Toledo (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA). BTW, where has LL been. He seems to have make like LLoyd and scrammed from Meatchicken.

... I hate to say this, but part of me wants to see Joe Pa win another Championship... even if that means OSU losing.

... uh, wow, Penn State is terrifyingly good.

edit: btw, jeps, how'd you become an OSU fan? I've actually seen a few around Ottawa and I don't understand it.

i became an OSU fan because my cousin and i have this complete sports rivalry, where, other than baseball, 100% of teams we support hate the guts of each other. he is a michigan fan who went to windsor. he is also a red wings fan (where the hate started). so this OSU thing of mine dates back before i was truly interested in college football, interestingly enough. (actually, watching the game with him just to cheer on the other team is HOW i got interested :mischief:)

Alabama should be number 1, they exposed Clemson when they still had confidence and then dismembered Georgia AT Georgia. They have been the most impressive. Before this win, Texas' most impressive win was Colorado.

OSU fans should be very worried about Penn State. Do you play them at Beaver Stadium? Seriously, OSU and Penn State look like the only Big 10 teams that are interested in playing football this year...

Penn State is coming to OSU, which should be a very good game. if we win we're set, if we lose...

I'll be painting my face white and blue for that one, sorry guys but I want to see Penn State-USC in the Rose Bowl :p

Then sorry Azale, if Penn State beats Ohio State (which could very easily happen the way they are playing) then they are in the title game.

And I completely disagree with putting Alabama #1. The Georgia win was nice, but the dawgs haven't exactly been crushing and killing everything in their path (they struggled to put away a horrendous Vol team). In addition, 'Bama looked very pedestrian in their game against Tulane and had struggles against Kentucky. The Clemson win isn't that impressive either. First it was on a neutral field, second, Maryland beat them also (and they lost to Middle Tennessee State!!) and lastly, Clemson only win that counts is against NC State...which 6 games in says it all.

I'll give you that Penn State hasn't exactly had the toughest schedule, but they have annihilated nearly everyone in their path (only Purdue came within 20 points of them with a final of 20-6).

But Texas has the strongest argument of all. They annihilated all the teams they should have annihilated so far on their schedule, not a single struggle against a team they shouldn't so far. I just got done saying the Penn State annihilated everything in their path...Texas upped even that. The closest anyone got to them going into the Red River game was Colorado losing by "just" 24 points. Add into that the fact that Oklahoma is for real and you've got your number one team in the country.

So enjoy it Azale, you could get to see a Penn State-Texas National Title game this season. And that would certainly be an entertaining game.

The SEC looks inconsistent this year. or deep according to the SEC homers.

Florida, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Vandy, Kentucky

Not bad. Not up to the standards of some year, but I would put them on par with the Big 12 or just behind it right now. This is during a weak SEC year.

I'm not an SEC homer because its fun, I'm an SEC homer because its fact. Or something. Pretend that was clever :p

I always pretend youre clever. BTW, kentucky is 0-2 in the SEC, why are they on your list?

It's a night game too. Still, Penn State looks scary...

if they go undefeated, they're in the NCG.

Because they have the best scoring defense in the country? They at least deserve a mention.

Tennessee being this horribly bad is weighing down the conference, no doubt.

And the price they will pay for doing it

Under Armour All-American safety Devonte Holloman has decommitted from Clemson after hearing of former head coach Tommy Bowden's firing, according to ESPN's JC Shurburtt.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site TheBigSpur.com, "I just heard the worst news ever. It's just not a good situation for me now with him (Coach Bowden) being gone. I'm not committed to Clemson anymore."

The highly-coveted senior is now seriously considering South Carolina, North Carolina, LSU and Michigan.

Any recruiting loss incurred by firing Tommy Bowden is returned threefold in the benefit of not having him as the coach...

He's like a wannabe Mack Brown in a lesser conference  He should have been fired two years ago.

Well that sucked.

Can't say I didn't see it coming (see post on Utah State), but that sucked big time. Maybe next time the boys will take it a little more seriously and swallow their pride. They weren't ready for the national attention, and it showed. This was not the same team after UCLA and Wyoming.
