College Football

Unless ofcourse Alabama loses to LSU...

The SEC and Big 10 are messy as usual.

Watching TN football is such a tease. They show up to play and THEN BLOW UP! Christ almighty.

Tennessee is painful to watch. They really don't get much going on offense and when they do it results in an endzone turnover. Tough losses.

Best weekend for NCAAFootball... even though Penn State Wisconsin was a bit of a...blowout.
Sitting right here, waiting for VaTech and the U

Oh but if you only knew Blindside, the pain is harsh. I live in SE TN, where EVERYONE feels the wins and losses. Last Sunday, my grandmother of all people gave me a discourse on Arian Foster and his ability to see the hole better than Riggs.

Well UCLA were exposed to be bigger frauds than Texas Tech. I don't know how voters could keep letting them get by after weeks of comebacks against crappy Pac-10 teams. They should be out of the top 10 now, along with Florida State.

This is how I see the BCS bowl game system breaking down. These aren't rankings other than USC and Texas, who I'm assuming will win out. This is assuming all these teams win out unless they're playing each other (doh!).

1. USC
2. Texas
3. ACC winner - Va Tech or Miami
4. Big 10 winner - PSU or OSU (we have to win out)
5. SEC winner - Bama/LSU or Georgia(with Shockley back)
6. Big East winner - West Virginia
7. PSU or OSU - at large
8. Va Tech or Miami - at large

If Bama wins out and wins the SEC championship, they're in obviously. I think at that point LSU/Georgia would be knocked too far back to be eligible.

If LSU (and wins out) beats Bama it gets a bit tougher but hopefully the voters will see through the fraud that Bama is.

Things would become really bad if FSU wins the ACC championship game or Florida somehow gets into and wins the SEC championship game.

edit: Right now if Miami keeps it up and beats Va Tech by 20 or more, they probably won't get an at large bid. In that case I'd say Notre Dame or perhaps Georgia will get in.

I know! I can't understand how they can keep voting for a team that's given up eight offensive touchdowns in their first nine games. Eight! That's more than, uh, more than . . .

Well, it's not more than anybody, actually. But still! Wins shouldn't count unless you break the 28 point barrier.

But with Closner out now Alabama is going to have a tough time getting past a perennially underrated Auburn team in two weeks. But if Georgia can take Auburn and Alabama can get past LSU Alabama will still get into the SEC championship at least, which is a lot more than could've been expected of them at the start of the season.

True. For Alabama to get to where they are is impressive enough. This may not be in a BCS bowl this year but this will probably mark a resurgance for this program back to the top.

I think on Moday, Bama will move up to 3, Miami at 4, PSU at 5. The main problem I see here is with Miami. They beat a very highly ranked Va Tech team. Problem is that why was Va Tech up there in the first place? They really had not played a good quality team till tonight (I don't think BC or WVA are good quality). So then does the big win mean much? Miami lost to FSU who now has lost to two unranked/low ranked teams. The computer is not going to like that. What I'm getting too, is the ACC all that its made out to be? Are any of the teams really that good? Lack of big out of conference wins/close losses does not stand well. I guess I'm saying the ACC sucks :)

The ACC, Big Ten and Big 12 are about even, top to bottom.

Then the Pac-10 is sort of the second tier.

It's tough to peg the SEC this year. I wouldn't put them up with the top three, but they don't really belong down with the Pac-10 either. And the distance between them isn't enough to make a whole separate tier . . .

But anyway, the ACC definitely doesn't suck. The fact that the biggies can go down to the also-rans is just evidence of the depth of the conference.

Monday's BCS should read USC (barring a miracle at Stanford), Texas, Alabama, Miami, Penn State. It might read USC, Texas, Miami, Alabama, Penn State, but that would just be so wrong.

I just looked at the BCS. No way Miami makes up a full tenth of a point gap on Alabama without Alabama losing.

No way the computers will put Miami above Bama but some voters will.

You're right the ACC doesn't suck. I forgot that the same FSU we have known for years is getting beaten, not by the new guys but by Virginia and NC State. Still I don't think the ACC has as much depth as the Big 10 or SEC (like you said, hard to pin them down without those ooc games). Its getting better though, at the expense of the Big East.

Interesting note:

Points scored to points allowed ratio among the unbeatens:

1. Texas
2. Alabama
3. USC

Back to VT/Miami, you've also got to remember that VT beat themselves with those six turnovers more than Miami proved to be the better team. If they played four more times, I'd still expect VT to win three of them . . .

Alabama's defense is playing great but have they played a good offense?

Hi all,

If you read previously and although i nothing of american college football, i do know and play American football in New Zealand, which we call Grid Iron.

Last time i said how the team i coached was going to play, well they did and have lost twice. Anyway Yesterday it was my first game of the season. We had great victory 17 - 15. The score didnt reflect the game we should of got atleast 2 other touchdowns but stupid penaltys. One was because our receiver jason was running down the felid with no one to stop him and he turned around and waved at the people chasing him, and said "your cant catch me HAHAHA" so the ref called it unsportsmanlike and a penalty. Plus they got a lucky one right at the end.

I was on the d-line and really it was a hard game for us, but i got 1 sack so i am happy. Anyway it was great, one day i would love to come to the states and watch the real teams play.

heres our website if you wanna see people playing your sport on the other side of the world www.spartans.co.nz

Not as good as they're about to. But the trouble is that they mostly play SEC offenses, and it's tough to gauge an SEC offense's prowess since they spend all their time playing SEC defenses. :)

Also, that sort of thing can be misleading. Alabama's averaging almost 400 yards and over 25 points a game, but the offense is clearly not that good. On the other hand, they dominated the game today, but turnovers kept them from scoring even one touchdown. So they're not that bad either.

Again, the Auburn game will be the real test . . .

Good stuff. They're pretty strict on unsportsmanlike conduct in the US as well. Just saw a terrible call on a Vanderbilt player for excessive celebration after a touchdown.

Glad to see the game spreading.

Unsportsmanlike conduct is usually a dead ball foul. In this case it wasn't, so I don't know what would happen.

this quote was slightly edited to show relevance to post
Nope. I agree with everything (The U for the ACC) accept for $osu. Penn State clearly will win the conference (has only lost 1 game, OH YEAH :D). Besides, OSU can't win out with Northwestern or MEEECHIGAN left (Nov. 19th baby, just wait!)
Infact, MEEECHIGAN has a chance to win the B10 if the following happens-
PSU loses to Michigan State
Wisconsin loses to Iowa
We beat Indiana and $osu
