Colonization Just stop working (steam)

It worked yesterday, does not launch today.

Gives me an invalid app config error.
anyone seen this before?

I just googled this and have exactly the same problem! It worked well yesterday and stopped today. Please contact steam support so they fix their mess...

This sucks. I just bought it because I thought having a digital copy available would be a good idea, especially since my hard copy is probably in my house 1500 miles away. Bad idea.

The game doesn't freakin work. And I looked it up on google and everyone else is having the same problem as me. Damn I really wanted to start a new empire of colonies. I bought Civ 5 for $7.50 I could try that in the mean time but Steam really needs to get its together.

Yep, the steam thread about this is already six pages long, with people having the same error.

I dug up my old CD and installed it, and it works just fine. So it's definitely something to do with the steam version.
