Color in circle of city size?

I've noticed I get different colors within the circle of the size of my city (main screen). Some gray, green, etc.. What does this mean if anything? Why aren't they all the same color? Is this a warning of a potential chaotic affair within the city?

I don't think so? On the main screen you can observe all your cities and see the size this inside this circle but some are green, gary, etc.. I know the number in the circle relates to the size of the city but why different colors?

Green around the population number means you're growing. Red means you're starving and white(grey) means you're stagnant/stable.

I believe he's correct, you seem to be talking about the population growth indicator (green = city is growing, gray = no growth, red = city is starving).
