I was wondering if anyone knew if this was an improvement from CIV III and you would be able to select your Civ's colors in the new game...i dont like the american's light blue at all and im too lazy to keep editing the colors in editor :) :crazyeye:

thanks

I haven't heard about this either, but I hope you can choose your own colors especially for team MP games, I would think they would have thought of this for team games and added it...

I hope you can choose your colors easily as well. =/ I detested the way the French always had a monopoly on that nifty bright pink.

I'm partial to the Greeks being Orange too, habbit from playing Civ2 so much.

I edited it in the Europe map I played... infact I made alot of Civ2 similiar changes.

England was red, Rome was white.. France Blue, Greek Orange.

civ2 had it right :king:

I hope you can pick your own colour too. I often play as the russians and in civ3 they were brown all the time. I loathe brown! :(

Back in Civ3, to counter this, i inserted the civ which had the same colour as mine. Then i'll have a different colour.... something different

Yeah I was thinking about this just today. Being able to choose colours would be great, although one of the good things about Civ3 is that you could hazard a guess as to who a civ was just by looking at a little segment of their border. With random colours it makes it slightly more challenging I suppose...

[EDIT] Wait, don't we just use flags on units and cities now instead of colors?...

and the flags have the same color on the background as the bordrt volot.

errr... Border color.

I presume there is no way to edit the colours in Civ3 then ??

I want to make England the dark blue that Germany normally gets....

In Civ 3 ? Sure you can edit the colours. Just use the editor.

How do you edit the colours in Civ 4? I always play as Germany and I dont like the White colour?

England was orange in Civ 2. Barbarians were red.

[/nitpick]

The colour is specified in the file Assets\XML\Civilizations\Civ4CivilizationInfos.xml . in the data block for germany, find the line:

<DefaultPlayerColor>PLAYERCOLOR_GRAY</DefaultPlayerColor>

and change it to something you like, e.g. you could switch it with France, which has PLAYERCOLOR_DARK_BLUE.

Backup your original files though, or - better yet - use the CustomAssets Folder for changes. Its usage is explained in the modification forums.
