I wish the units had different ways to fight. Don't you ever ask your self, how can a tank need 4 to 5 bombs to kill a single man unit? That is so not realistic.

I had Rifleman one time against a worrier, and the freaking worrier almost killed me. A shot or two should take care the worrier, specially if I'm the first to strike.

Would be cool if they have grades like real military units has too, like soldier sergeant, etc, and special units later on the game.

About ICBM and Tactic.

I wish they have half turn to send a tactical, or a ICBM, so when was my turn, a message would pop up from my advisor, "Nuke in coming", or something like that. Do you think if you send a nuke at a civ, they would wait that long to send one back at you? Is like if I have enough nukes to wipe out the map (Like US and Russia has), as it is a game, I would just wipe then out, knowing is my turn, and they will have to wait until my turn is over to do anything about it (which would be to late).

Oh forget about that kind of "realism" alright! Its a game!
The whole combat system is based on a random number manipulated by stats that determine the final odds of one unit wining vs an other.

Think of it this way: thats not one warrior, but a whole platoon of warriors.
and if the tank loses, than maybe it is because your slave laborers, who helped create the darn thing sabotaged it as a final piece of resistance.
Or maybe the field commander had a brain-sink and did something unbelievably stopit.

And if you can't be satisfied with this, you can play Civ4! In Civ4, they made it so a high tech unit can only lose vs a low tech unit if the high tech unit was damaged before. And a healthy high tech unit can be damaged by a low tech unit, but not defeated.

They also added a concept called promotions in Civ4, these promotions add more features to units than just an other HP, and there is no limit to how many promotions a unit could have, provided it gains enough XP.

Were you attacking the warrior? In this case, you were very lucky you got out alive! As Riflemen have 1 attack, and Warriors have 1 defense, and if the warrior was on a hill/mountain/walled town/city/metropolis/fortress/barricade/across a river it has much higher chances of winning than your rifleman. :)

Uhhh, riflemen have 4 attack, Mirc....;)

Nope. Rifles have 4, muskets have 2, and infantry have 6.

Well, when I play civ. I think of a unit as being more like 100 of that unit, a tank couldn't hit 100 people and just instantly kill them all in one shot. Thats how I think of it.

Yeah, but reverse that. There may be 100 guys running up to that tank, but it's fair to say that there's more than one tank, too.

That being said, there are going to be times when the 100 guys can take out a platoon (or whatever) of tanks. Just not every time. :)

Hail everyone!
I'm quickly learning about combat. I've seen Spearmen destroy Mech Infantry. But then again, it was the last combat unit in the city before I took it over. It seems the last defending unit will fight with reckless abandon and refuse to give up without inflicting serious damage, regardless of how greatly outclassed they are. I usually just think of sports... the underdog, against great odds, will sometimes win the game (or battle in this case).

That's just the (P)RNG being streaky. If you want to get around this, make sure you send plenty of arty units to take those last defenders down to 1 hp, making it easier to take the city with your units.

Back to the tank(s), maybe the warrior(s) dug a bunch of holes and covered them with sticks and leaves and whatnot, then lured the tank(s) into such holes.

Actually, from what I've seen from my games with Preserve Random Seed off, the last defender in a city will always be stronger than the other ones! (and even more so if it's capital) I don't know if this can be proved, but I tested it and it seemed true.

I find this to be true in my own experience even with Preserve Random Seed on when the defender is protecting the last city, either my own or the enemy.

Well, the only reason why I tested it with Preserve Random Seed off is that I could reload the same save and have different results. I'm sure results don't differ based on random seed preserving. :)
