Commerce Disucssion: Achieving the Philo Gambit

I think it would be technilogically viable for us, still, to jump out of the Philo gambit while making a killing by selling writing. Philosophy, though, I believe, isn't an AI priority, as it really never sets any sort of beeline priorities.

All things considered, I think it would be most advantageous to continue our 50-turn research program, so we can accumulate gold for upgrades and tech purchases.

I think this is a pretty good assessment. We're doing a good job of tech trading so even if we don't get Philosophy first it's not that big of a deal. I don't think any of us expected war to come so soon, and this - at least to me - changes things. I support selling writing for whatever we can get and continue 50-turn research.

Philo path does not justify the risk. We didn't know that when the policy was first made, but things are quite different now. I agree with those who say we risk the game by chasing the one tech (that I think we will lose given the AI is out expanding us) that Philo brings.
