Compatiablility with Windows 7 and Civ III

I just purchased windows 7 loaded the game on and it starts up fine. I make one warrier and hit the explore button and the game freezes up. Anyone got any answers. Is it just not compatiable with windows 7 and I have to wait for a fix of some sort?

Edit: That said, I haven't had problems with it, although I'd installed on Vista and upgraded, rather than install on 7.

I just loaded Civilizations 3 Complete on my son's old Dell laptop under Windows 7 so that I can use the editor, and both the editor and the game run fine. However, I did not simply hit the explore button when I sent my Warrior out exploring. I am playing one of my mods, and presently I am in the middle of the Medieval Period, playing the Dutch, and everything is running fine. I am actually quite surprised on how well things are running.
