Does anyone play any MP games hardcore.

Anyone good at games like starcraft, quake, UT, CS, smash brothers Soul Calibur, street fighter, etc?

I used to play UT all the time, with instagib. Absoloutly loved it, but my ping got the better of me :( (56k) I finished top most of the time :D
Tac ops was ok, but not as good.

I was also pretty addicted to Counterstrike, and Day of Defeat. But again, I had to stop playing cause my ping was crap. I was quite good at them too...

I played age of empires 2 on the internet quite alot, had the best rating I had ever seen. Quite proud of that :)

Once I get broadband and a new pc, you won't be able to pull me off the computer ;)

hehe, I've got broadband, but am missing a decent pc. Otherwise I'd be playing battlefield and desert combat all the time. :)

Used to play Starcraft. That was a looooooooong time ago. I would love to start it again, but battlenet won't work because I don't have that stupid CD key. I suck at it anyways.

SSBM is my most played multiplayer game with my friends to date. Me and one other friend are quite a bit above intermediate players now, although I wouldn't exactly know because I've never been to a tournament and I don't intend to. I can't do most of the advanced stuff like wavedashing and whatnot... me and my friends just sort of play for fun, not skill.

Ah, Soul Callibur 2 gets boring too quickly. I think I'm just not one for fighters. About once every three months is enough for me.

I also love Mario Kart, Gamecube version of course. But Mario Kart and the other GCN multiplayer games I have (Mario Party, Pac Man vs. , etc.) you can't really play hardcore because they're all about unpredictacality (is that even a word?), and I just have a blast playing it with friends.

I never really liked playing online. Too many acronyms to keep track of, everyone seems like an idiot, lag, and other things keep me away from it. I prefer to play with friends, so I can make fun of them every time I win. ;)

I used cto play the little-known, loyhaly-followed Tribes 2 on Version 2 MOD...

Also, IK play UT2K4 from time to time now... thats about it...

I play or used to play following games hardcore and indepth. The genres i play in high level gaming is FPS, RTS and Fighting games.

FPS
Quake I, Team fortress, Quake III, CS, UT2k3-4 (sort of when i need break from q3)

RTS
Starcraft, Red Alert I and II and Warcraft III semi seriously

Fighting game
Tekken4, Soul Calibur 2, Virtua Fighter 4 and Marvel VS Capcom. Guilt Gear XX:R semi seriously.

High level gaming is like... really different. I guess you could say some of you play Civ3 at high level. Strategy employed by casual gamer compared to pros are like... so different. Just like good civ player will take full advantage of small micromanagement difference to take advantage, sometime high level game can be won by frame or two difference in timing. Two pros fighting agst each other is sometimes almost... zen like.

I used to play Socom II online almost all day. Eventually I sold my PS2 and got a GameCube.

where do you live. Almost every major cities have their own fighter community. You just need to know how to find them.

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.. :mischief:

Great game..I gotta try Starcraft and Diablo :goodjob:

edit: spelling

I just remembered that years ago I used to spend hours of Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun online. I used to own in that game eventually.

? Quite alot of people, myself included...

I'm really looking forward to playing Battlefield 1942 online :D I've got a thing about multiplayer shooting games...

I live in Toronto, and I'm sure that Toronto does have an active fighting community, I'm just not interested enough to go find it.

indeed toronto does. So many good players in toronto... if u dont have friends to play, arcade is the place for you. You'll learn how to play fast where you are.

Damn i was hoping for more trash talking on how they can ownz j00 and stuff like that. :D

I guess no one plays any MP games to a strategic level.

Thats exactly how i pick up games seriously actually. To trash talk friends. Then they go ahead and pick up new stuff and I have to end up learning how to counter. It starts escalating to a point where any tips and edge we can get is crucial to beating each other. If u can constantly beat ur friends without getting better thats cool, but I cant have bragging rights unless i keep up with them.

I play Rise of Nations online once in awhile, not recently because of school, but every so often . . .

Also Star Wars - Galactic Battlegrounds, I *borrowed* a copy of a friend, and we play every do often.

Obviously C3C, that is one I play every so often. Homeworld 2 is another, although only once . . .

If bloody school wouldn't get in the way, I'd play more. *sigh . . . *

Oh, I used to play Age of Empires 2, with Cpnquerors expansion all the time. I played some heavily modded games though, like Archer's Blood/Archer Elite and Castle Blood. I never played the normal game online...

You are probably missing out then as the blood games are largely based on luck, certain civs don't stand a chance on castle blood and after numorous attempts I don't believe I ever saw a game finish, plus it was usual to see at least a few people drop because of lag. At least in normal games it was possible to play to the end.
