[Vanilla] Competitive vanilla groups?

So finally got to where I can consistently beat this on emperor and have beat the game on Deity. Love to get seriously involved in MP. Watched PotatoMcwhisky commentate over PVP tournaments and such - are there versions of these that work without the expansions? Any vanilla MP groups where people play regularly and learn from each other? Thanks!
