Complete Version

I'm not sure I entirely understand your question, AA-battery.

If you bought Civ3 - Complete, which contains the original Civ3 and the two expansion packs, you can play Civ3 without installing Play The World or Conquests. Or you can install both expansion packs, or just one.

But the expansion packs improve the game dramatically, especially Conquests.

I've got Civ III Complete. The install program sets up the game with both Civ III Vanilla, PTW and C3C. However, you can choose to launch Civ III Vanilla without the Conquests, or launch PTW just by going to the respective *.exe file in the approriate folders on the computer.

Use the default exe file though - having C3C adds a lot to game play. I think that's what you meant?

You can play the game seperatly. Just go to the Vanilla Civ3 execute and play it. But play Conquest because that is so much more better than the regular game.

That was not my question. Let me refrase:

Because I have Civ3 Complete now to replace my old vanilla civ the first disk is all you need to play. But if I used my old vanilla civ on a different computer with the conquests disc from the Civ3 complete box would the expansion pack work?

Ok. Now that makes sense. And to be honest, I doubt it. I'm not going to drag out my conquests disk to see, but here's the deal. If there is a setup executable file on the disk, then it could work. However, the install for complete is basically one setup program running, with the approriate CD's added when required.

Why don't you try yourself. Of course, there is something else worth mentioning. You've only paid for one license of Civ 3 Conquests, so it should only be on one machine. Such is the way of copyright.

I tried to do this for PTW last night by running the PTW executable. However, when I ran it, I was prompted for the PTW disk. The only PTW disk I have though is for install so when I put it in it just kept asking for the PTW disk. Then I tried to use the main CIV III Complete play disk. This didn't help either. Am I doing something entirely stupid?

Thanks in advance.

I'm just curious how many and what disks does complete have?
Also do you have any other Civilization 3 disks?

You will need to uninstall all previous Civilization 3 programs. And then install complete.
Or you could just install it in another location.

Basically when you install something it adds a program. Now that program can ONLY be run by the EXACT CD-ROM that installed it.
