Computer suddenly can't play sound

Has anyone have the sound suddenly disappear one day on win 11? Maybe it's some kind of update that did it. I've tried reinstalling the game and the audio but it still didn't work.

Thank you for making this thread. I just got a new PC, and it's not able to play any of the sound or music for some reason. Not even the sound on the into video plays. Can anybody help? Are there any driver updates that can help with this problem? I am using a Win11 computer, just like my last one. The scenario editer no longer works also. It keeps saying "can't find civ3ptw" error. Of course, I have the Steam version.

Error: Could not locate Civilzation III : Play the World. Please make sure the game has been properly installed and try again.

Does anybody have a similar problem? Yes, I did properly install the game.
