Alright, I was playing an Emporer style difficulty game, and it was going well up until around 1400 AD. It was a very unusual game, I started on a continent entirely by myself, and my first military action wasn't until after 1000 AD, which was taking a two city island away from the Egyptians. Well, shortly after I began my conquest of the Aztecs, I was attacked, out of the blue, by the Incans. Luckily, I had saved the game recently, so I went back in time to just before the attack occured to figure out if there was anything I could do.

Here are some peculiarities I noticed:

1. The Incan leader was 'pleased' with me before the attack and was trading resources with me before the attack. Strange that he would travel halfway around the world to attack me.

2. His dropoff fleet consisted of 3 Galleons and 3 Frigates.

3. While they were on the ships, he had a total of 9 land units. It did not list a 'more...' sign under the units while they were in the fleet.

4. However, when he dropped the units off, he dropped off 18 land units! How could this be?

How is it possible?
Isn't 9 the total load of galleons?
Did u notice any other ship? I don't think it's a cheat.

Yes, 9 should be the total load for the Galleons. I didn't see any other ships. The only thing I could think of is that since he had circumnavigated the globe, he had ships moving fast enough they came and left without me seeing them. However, since I had ships off the coast I know this isn't true...

Has anyone else seen this sort of behaviour, the computer dropping off more units than he has cargo room for? More units than showed up on the fleet while it was sailing over?

I'm glad you posted this. I had the same problem myself. I had kicked everyone off my continent and had fairly good relations with the rest of the world. The Persians showed up with the same scenario you described, as least transport wise. Three galleons and 18 land units!! I however didn't have my ships on that side of my coast, so I just figured I missed seeing some of the boats. There were soldiers everywhere!

I don't know, but I believe I've seen the AI travel more squares by land than they could. At times its seemed like they can travel through your territory via the roads, considering the number of times a mounted unit will flee a city I'm sieging to go capture a worker in my territory. Magical three-moves-per-turn mounted units.

i played prince.
AI sent some archers on some boat to my land.
uppon landing, they were upgraded to longbowman, now i cant kill them with axeman :(

In the game I just finished, Napolean attacked me, and dropped some units off near one of my cities... and he dropped some units off in the neighboring civ's territory, which I did not see coming.

You might try opening the worldbuilder to see for sure what the Incans brought.

Post a save, and I'll move this to the bug reports forum.
