This quest states that you fail if you reach industrialism. The quest actually fails when you reach the industrial era. No idea if it is the text that is incorrect or if the quest is failing at the wrong spot. Two saves are below, in both cases the quest parameters have just been met, and all that is required is to end the turn to complete the quest successfully. In the first save, the quest completes. In the second, nothing happens because I have Scientific Method.

Two minor issues that may or may not be working as designed.

That is the only quest I had when I took the screenie. But if the window is normal size, all the text isn't visible, and I was unable to scroll down to read more.

In the two saves above, after completing/failing the quest, the text in the quest log didn't change at all. There was no indication that I had passed/failed the quest, if I didn't realise I had, I would just assume the quest was still outstanding.

I have no idea if those two issues are specific to this quest or occur for all quests, as I haven't checked before.

Here are the rewards for completing the Blessed Sea Quest:

The quest details (the tech) are actually correct - according to the XML, it expires with industrialism, not by reaching the industrial age.

For your first save, I got the "completed" message, along with the options, but the quest stayed in the log. For the second, I didn't get anything.

So you do get completed/failed messages in the log when you complete/fail quests?

Especially weird if the XML says industrialism.

I failed this quest and I wasn't anywhere near the Industrial Era...just discovered Astronomy, and 1 turn later the mission failed. :(

Mansa Musa (on a different, isolated continent) built the Apostolic Palace, maybe that had something to do with it? So far I haven't gotten any messages about palace-related stuff.

I played over several versions of this quest from a saved file. In one the quest simply dissappeared, in the others nothing happened when I had fufilled the conditions. There is definitely something that needs sorting here!

I think I figured out what's happening here.
Playing Pelago map with the Dutch when I got this quest a couple of turns before I reached Lib --> Astro.
With Astro under my belt, I promoted some galleys lying around to EastInders and got the failed quest message on the next turn.

I reloaded and played around with the upgrading. After trial and error, I realized that one particular galley upgrade made me fail the quest. I could upgrade all but one (particular) galley, without failing and I would fail if I upgraded just the one particular galley.

This quest must be tied to a particular sea vessel you own. When you upgrade, the game doesn't recognize the unit that the quest "was given to" so you fail...

Whether this is true only for upgrades to your UU, I cannot say. More testing is needed :help: :badcomp:

You'd assume the quest would also fail if that galley was destroyed

Yes, disbanded or killed galley may also do the trick.
I went for upgrading as it seemed that those who reported this error had just reached another era, with possible upgrade opportunities. Of course, players with high production may opt to disband obsolete units and build new ones to replace them.

I failed this quest, and it was definitely because I lost a specific galley in combat. I didn't realize this until I thought I completed the quest a hundred years later. I had a save a few turns before that galley was lost. I loaded that save and deleted the galley causing me to fail the quest.

If I knew I needed the galley, I could've kept it safe. Very dissappointing to go through all that trouble to settle 13 landmasses and fail for a reason that could've been prevented if the game provided all the information.

Yes, this is a bug, and sadly not sorted by 3.13. It spoils the game if you have gone to all that effort! I've learnt now to keep the galley that's circled when the quest is announced well out of trouble and not to upgrade it.

Thanks for posting the quest rewards - now I don't feel so bad for failing (same reason, I upgraded the galley that triggered the quest in the first place).

IMO. like many (most?) of the quests, the rewards are pretty insignificant compared to the trouble you go through to get them. The only real reasons you'd want to do them is for fun, or boredom, or if you're an obsessive completist :)
