im confused, what exacly dose "Zulus can overrun their enemies more easily" mean? its thear starting specal power.

if you have a really big (and far more powerful i assume but not sure it might just be size) then instead of fighting the enemy will just retreat, a good example is if you attack a barb city with a legion army then more often than not they will just retreat and you overrun them

how will this work aginst human players? dosent the human have to order a retreat, or is thear a chance that the the unit will fall back without orders from a human player when defending?

What it means is that you can overrun at 4:1 instead of 7:1 power ratio.

If you overrun you instantly defeat the enemy soldier or army.

I think this is correct, it defeats the enemy and has nothing to do with retreating.

I'm not 100% sure about what that means because I only have a DS and can't play the demo. If I understand this correctly it means if you are zulu a 8 :strength: unit fights a 2 :strength: unit the 8 :strength: unit auto wins. If you are any other civ the 2 :strength: unit has a small chance of winning. All civs (besides the zulu who has a 4:1) have a 7:1 overrun ratio. This is to prevent :spear:

I believe it also is 3:1 for the Zulus, not 4:1. Either way, it increases the chances of a possible overrun. I do not think overruns automatically happen at either over 3:1 or 7:1 for other civs, it just probably will happen.

No I am almost certain it is automatic at 3:1 for Zulus, 7:1 for other civs

(if it wasn't automatic it would be pointless... at 7:1 your chances of losing are incredibly small, so why bother having a 'chance' of avoiding a tiny 'chance')

The Zulus are 3:1. You can check the combat entry in the civpedia. The main advantage is not getting wounded and a shorter combat but Aztec heal seems better to me.

My bad, you're right. I must have misread the screen when playing the demo. What you're saying makes sense though, and this stops the spearman taking out plane problem.

well, either way, I think it's a useful skill for my kind of playing...

Doesn't overrun give you an extra move too? I've noticed whenever I've won an overrun victory, my unit gets to go again. I had one unit win like 4 battles in a single turn (and get all the experience too) by overrunning a bunch of weak enemy units.

That's correct -- if you attack and get an overrun, you do not lose a movement point. You can make as many overrun attacks as you like in a turn -- great for clearing away lots of weak units.

This thread is a couple months old so I just wanted to confirm some things now that I've actually played the game a fair amount:

The Zulu's overrun advantage is 4:1, not 3:1 as others claimed. The main advantage of the Zulus overrun ability, from my experiences anyway, is that Zulu Impi armies can clean up barbarian villages in one turn. This gives the Zulus a major advantage in getting barbarian villages not only from their warriors ability to move two tiles in one turn, but also from their ability to attack barbarians more than one time per turn. In addition, the advantage is also that they don't have to worry about healing from fights where they're heavily favored.

Thanks for the info rev & bonafide.

Has anyone else noticed the overrun animation acting funny? I've noticed a few times when the overrun enemy doesn't seem to be able to run away in the animation. So instead of a couple of seconds of watching them scatter, it looks like they're running on ice. They'll sit there spinning their wheels the whole time until each and every one of them has been killed off. Kind of funny to watch.

I actually have had two instances of them fighting back in an overrun scenario, and kill some of my army.
