I downloaded a map General M's Huge Europe. I've got between sixty and seventy cities in my little empire but now the game is telling me I have to many cities when I try to add more.
I looked in the editor but did not see anything that would let me adjust the number of cities. Is there a fixed number of cities the game will let you establish?

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome and the fast response Aabraxan. That would make perfect sense. I have nine other civs on the map and it being so large 360x360 I haven't gone to war yet, and the other civs being well spaced around the map haven't been fighting either. I'll have to start a fight with the British to find out for sure :D

Yes 512 is the limit. I think I read someone made a fix to remove that. Anyway I have run into that limit many times with 31 civs on 250x250 and 362x362. Keep a couple of settlers on hand at all times.

At the start of each turn check to see, if you can make a town. You can slam one down anyplace to lock the free spot and eventually get a settler to the spot you really want and abandon the temp town.

Otherwise you may miss the chance. In my games I was playing Always War, so sooner or later the AI just stop making settlers and I could plant the town at my leisure.
