Ive been playing Civ for a while.. but im still not very good at it.
Im currently playing as the English and I have conquered the Maya and the Zulu and now have a very large empire. The only problem is that all my new cities are reallllly bad on production, commerce etc. and their borders aren't growing so they are all separated.
So i was just wondering if any of you knew how to fix these things.
Thanks.

Rush the cheapest culture building and if its to far away from you'r capital just irrigate everything and use specialist like truepurple said , if you are going to change to communism though and its not to far away i would go with the same as normal cities.

Oh, wait a turn so you have 1 production before you rush else it costs twice as much.
You can disband a warrior to get 2 shields and then rush. It's a tactic sometimes used in always war games.

So you get the discount even on the 1st turn?????

Another thing is to look at the distances between those cpatured cities. If it is really large, you may want to abandon a few and stick in new ones that do not need any culture.

Often it is best to raze those cities and get the free workers.

Build your own cities to connect them. Use the food to make specialists.
