Shouldn't the conqueror of a civilization automatically get all the technology of what ever civ they have completely conquered?

Getting techs for conquests in CivII was fairly unbalancing.

It probably should if the conqueror keeps the cities he/she takes and employs scientists in them.

I wish there was at least SOME chance of getting a tech by conquest, as in Master of Orion (1 and 2, never played 3).

Remember Civ 1? Build NOTHING but Catapults and Chariots, space cities 2 apart, and go conquering the world - and you will even keep up in tech!

I agree partly with Doc. But still; I also think there should be some way to obtain techs easier if you are conquering a nation.
What about a reduced tech cost on techs the conquered nation had, but you lack ?

The only thing I could see would be that you still count as having contact with a dead civ if you destroyed it, making all techs they had slightly cheaper.

No! Warmongering is already the easiest way to win. This would make it even easier as you wouldn't have to invest in anything else.

I somehow think it is much more "cute" if you get to use their UU after you completely conquer them...
